I have a high calcium level, approx 500 ppm, and have this same problem. I try to keep the ph at about 7.2 but still get a bunch of white flakes. I assume the calcium is the problem, the cleaner picks most up, but I would like them to not exist.

This same thing happened to us back in 2011, they drilled some 1" dia holes to increase the drainage. Finally at the end of may they were able to plaster.

It may be your pump is to close to the bottom of the well, when ours was drilled to 280', the pump was set at 220' so there is plenty of water below it, the water level in the well is 60', never get any sand.

Calcium flakes from the SWG, I have the same and there are other threads talking about this. Although since you cleaned the swg and it had no scale, strange.
