I’ve clearly got some calcium flakes in my pool and my alkalinity is 220. I’m aware of the reason why this is happening, to a degree. My hose water is alkaline and I’ve been trying to get the TA down but it takes forever to get pH low enough to add more MA. Anyway, reading about this and stumbled across the following:

Saltwater pools also have to be maintained differently than non-salt pools because the increased salinity adds at least 3000 ppm of TDS, which lowers the LSI in a noticeable way.

Can someone explain this to me like I barely graduated high school?

You did not read that here.

I suggest you ask whoever wrote it to explain it to you.

The chemistry inside a SWG cell when generating is different than in the pool with a higher pH. The high pH in the cell causes scale to form which you see as white flakes. High TA is the easiest thing to adjust to change the chemistry in the cell and stop the scaling.

you are correct, I did not read that here. I still don’t understand it. Thanks for the reply.
