Pentair Hydroboost, Second Failure in Little Than 5 Months

In March of 2024 I had a leaking booster pump and main pool pump replaced with a new Pentair Superflo Variable Speed main pump and a Pentair HydroBoost booster pump.

Well in December of 2024, the pressure side polaris 3-wheel cleaner stopped moving around the bottom of the pool. The main pump was working fine and moving water around as expected, but the booster pump didn't seem to be boosting the water pressure to the jet for the cleaner.

On the front grill side of the booster pump I could see that the motor was spinning. So I called up the warranty and had the booster replaced which seemed to instantly fix the problem.

Now, not 5 months later, the new replacement booster pump is doing the same thing as the one it replaced and my cleaner isn't working anymore again. I have another request into Pentair but it's been 2 days now with no reply.

Has anyone had any issues like this? Two bad pumps? Bad model? What should I do to troubleshoot on my own first?

Unfortunately I see the PB4-60 all the time but not the hydroboost. I’ve had a few QC issue with regular Pentair pumps lately, but they’ve always been good to make me whole asap on any issues. I’d recommend staying the course on the claim you’ve filed. Usually Pentair is pretty good about resolving issues/concerns.

I have noticed some staining on the grout of my tile but in fact, it improved the appearance in my case.
What's interesting is that the copper in my heater which (regardless of off or on, chileated or not) would be introducing copper to the pool. I recently opened my heater and noticed some of the small ports where the copper was thinner, had thinned portions of the lip away.
