I have an A & A Pentair popup pool cleaner system in my pool an was very pleased with the operations on that system as it worked great. Recently we had some work done on the pool and a repebble tec done and in that process I now have new drain covers, I believe Aquastar 10" Anti- Entrapment cover and it does not seem to work very well at allowing the dirt Tobe sucked out of the pool bottom. Do I have any options here to resolve this? Pentair has a PBR2 10" cover that look closer to my old cover but not sure it will go together.

Please help

Jim

You should have two drains and covers. Are you sure the valve is open to suction from the main drain? Do you use suction from your skimmer or do you have a venturi QuikSkim like I have that doesn't use suction? If You may need to open the main drain valve more toward 90% to get full suction from the floor. My main drain is 100% open due to the QuikSkim. Also, do you then also have a leaf basket 1/2 buried before the pump basket? Is it empty?

Why did they change to a non-optimal drain cover? Post a pic of it and someone might have an idea of what you can use instead. Since they didn't change the drain itself (or did they dig it out and replace it) then you could probably put the old style back on because the screw holes should be the same as before. Do you not have a QuickSkim with venturi water streaming under the skimmer basket? Have you turned the valve to 70-80% drain and tried that? How was it all set up before, if you know. (the techs might have messed with the valves)

Why did they change to a non-optimal drain cover?
Drain covers are required to meet the 2021 Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act (VGBA Act) when the pool is modified.

The 2021 act required the cover to be certified with the sump. You cannot put a cover on a sump it is not certified for.
