Considering SWG for 30k gallon Pool

Then present the correct reasons for the OP to make an informed decision.
I did plant that seed for further discussion a couple posts above 👇

It'll last 50% longer than the IC40 and won't cost 50% more. It'll also need to run less, saving pump electricity.
And now you've watered it so we can watch it grow. :goodjob:

No. The power center is a transformer. Without automation, you need something to remove power from the swcg when the pump is not running.

I would say about 4-5 gallons a week during hot months. 10% concentration
5 gallons of 10% per week is 17 ppm and about 2.5 ppm/day.

You would need to run an IC40 at 80% for 14 hours/day or an IC60 at 80% for your 9 hours per day.

I’d take it running at 80% is not ideal?
Running at 80% is fine. The cell will be depleted faster but you paid less for it.

If budget is not an issue then get the IC60. You get more chlorine capacity for the increased price.

Have you looked at the pump wattage that it is using at different speeds? My pump only uses 120W at the lowest setting which is 20GPM and my SWG doesn't have any flow issues at that speed. I run my pump 24/7 now that it is pool season and that lets me run the SWG at a lower output rate.

I would still op for a 60K rated cell for which ever brand you decide to go with as it should last longer and produce more chlorine per dollar spent.

+1. The install costs and controller are the same. If the installer is remotely close to the $400 online upgrade cost between the two units, you'll get 50% more lifespan for 16% more cost. (Plus tax, but still)

A contractor provided a quote for a Jandy Truclear system that they prefer over the Pentair SWG. They had it for $1500 all in.

They also mentioned that they can do the ic60 plus for $200 more than the ic60.

Thoughts?
IMHO the Truclear is a low quality system. Your contractor prefers selling Jandy equipment since he makes more on it.

We had the discussion earlier in the thread about Pentair cells without Pentair automation.

as far as the salt is concerned, is there a recommended brand/type?
Depends what you can find in your area at a good price. I use Aquasalt.

Never use Clorox salt at any price.
