I’ll give it a go.Used this once, oscillating-saw blade, to cut a slot for a flat-blade screwdriver. Stainless-steel screw and just holding it in the impeller eye means a lot of work. Would just cut the impeller off after that. Challenger impellers aren't inexpensive. Seldom saw that kind of damage, usually from tablets in the skimmer.

No, never did. Tab tower was installed with builder and never used. I ran a bleach/liquid chlorine pool 2019, 2020, 2021 until COVID made the ROI not feasible and then switched to SWG two seasons ago.
The more you would "rotate the entire assembly" to remove the impeller, the tighter the impeller screw would become. They are left-hand threaded.Last weekend, I replaced seal plate, seal and impeller as I couldn’t get the seal and impeller to release due to corrosion.
I ended up just taking the bolts out of the seal plate and was able to rotate the entire assembly to remove the impeller. Might be worth a try and then you can figure out what you’re fighting from the back side.
I seriously abused the impeller/seal/seal plate to try to get it released. Banged on seal from motor side with large flathead, through whole assembly on ground, etc but it wouldn’t release under any persuasion.
Ah, right. I had already removed the impeller screw. The more you would "rotate the entire assembly" to remove the impeller, the tighter the impeller screw would become. They are left-hand threaded.
