End of slam?

So if I get no fc loss overnight the slam is done? Just double checking. I think I ended a little too soon last time n it bit me in the butt
AND CC is 0.5 or less AND the water is perfectly clear with no sign of algae dead or alive.

at sundown I had fc-20 ppm and this morning at 6:00 am I have fc-18.5 ppm
Unfortunately no. You lost more than 1 ppm overnight. Tell me, why did you do another OCLT? Above you passed, so I'm confused.

Also confirm, on last night's test, was the cell off? Was the pump running all night long to mix the water?

The original post I made was hypothetical. The swg been off since I started slam and pump on 24/7 right now. So what is the margin +/- on Taylor test kit. So now today I have to maintain my fc reading at slam level all day @31 ppm. My CYA unfortunately is 80.
This is a rough year fighting algae. Water looks crystal clear it’s just that little bit of algae hanging on I guess

I just tested again with a new R-0870 DPD powder. The other one was turning a little grey not white in appearance. This test it passed. I got 20 ppm like last night. I’m thinking now I’m done? Boy I’m unsure about pulling the trigger. I don’t want To go back to SWG and have to slam level again in future

By looking at your pool/water, I have a couple things to ask:
- Is the inability to see the bottom clearly because of the windy conditions? If the water is calm, you are confident of the water clarity? See this month's TFP contest as examples of clarity.
- During your previous SLAM and spring opening, did you have to remove a pool light to inspect/clean behind it in the niche?

I'm not seeing anything else in the water that might harbor algae. Perhaps the skimmer area, behind the weir door, etc. You have a main drain yes? Have you ever remove that drain lid to inspect in there?

Here some pics with pump off. I never had to clean around lights and main drain in past. I had to plug main drain years ago because of leak. Must have had crack in underground corrugated pipe underground.IMG_1208.jpegIMG_1209.jpegIMG_1210.jpeg

Okay, so very clear which is nice. Those black specs are just dirt/dust I assume? Curse of the TFP clear. Ha.
One day when you're feeling adventurous and want to practice holding your breath, you might want to inspect under that drain cover. :snorkle:

If you have the small LED lights, no worries - no action required. If you have a larger light with the niche behind it, you should pull the light out and check.

Ok yes just dirt. I have small led lights as well. I think I’ll do another overnight test tonight to see if any loss. As for slamming I won’t add chlorine today hoping I’m done. Put SWG back on as fc drops.

Thanks again for your help. Don’t know what I’d do if not for this forum. :)
