Seeking Advice for Upgrading Pool Equipment and Automation for 30k Gallon

Hello everyone,
I'm moving into a new home and embarking on a complete remodel, including upgrading the existing pool setup. The current pool equipment includes a DE filter, an old single-speed pump, an old booster pump for the vacuum, and a single pool light (likely not LED). Notably, there's no automation in place.

My previous home had a newly constructed pool with all Pentair equipment, featuring IntelliTouch, a salt cell, cartridge filter, variable speed pump, and extensive automation, all controlled via my phone. This experience really set my expectations. :)

For the new pool, which is about 30,000 gallons, I'm looking to make some significant upgrades:
- Replace the DE filter with a cartridge filter
- Switch to a variable speed pump
- Install a salt cell
- Upgrade the pool light to an LED light
- Potentially replace the booster pump (do I even need this?) Home comes with a new vacuum (Polaris 280)
- Add potential control for future landscape lighting
- Explore automation options, particularly those that allow for phone control

Given my background with Pentair and IntelliTouch, I'm inclined towards similar setups. However, I'm open to exploring other reliable brands.

I would greatly appreciate recommendations on:
1. Equipment brands and models that are best suited for a pool of this size.
2. Options for automation systems that offer robust control, especially via phone - that basically are simple: turn on/off pool and landscape lights and turn pump on/off.
3. Any insights into the integration of pool and landscape lighting.

I greatly appreciate any advice. Also, should I buy equipment and find someone to install OR contact a pool company? Again, appreciate the conversation.

So did my experience. So when I moved, I explored changing some things and quickly decided against it. I was familiar with my brand and had spent years using, diagnosing and repairing it........ and still liked it.

I'm a Pentair guy, but you'll want a 3HP or 2.7 HP pump (brand depending). They'll move the most water and allow.lower speeds, paying for themselves in the long run.

The Pentair clean and clear 520 is the go to cartridge filter for bigger pools.

The IC60 SWG will only have to run 12 hours to produce enough FC in the peak season.

Hang tight for the automating and landscaping inclined folks.

Do you have a spa?

No spa and no landscape light control and you can probably use a Pentair IntelliConnect.
No spa. Appreciate the IntelliConnect recommendation - didn't realize that even existed, I currently have the EasyTouch.

It seems like a VS pump can be connected but per the link you posted it's not supported? I'll do a little research but think the relays can be used for the booster pump and pool light, in my situation. Landscape lighting I will have to control elsewhere which isn't a big deal.

Which VS pump?

Booster pump for?

Think I miscalculated the pool gallons -
That's OK because you want the biggest pump, so it can run slower while moving the same water.

Your yard determines the debris needing filtering, not the gallons, so if there's any trees or crud whatsoever, you'll still want the big filter.

I would have gone 3X SWG in a heartbeat in NY for the ROI alone. In a warm climate I'd go 4X due to the long season using cell hours, *and* the ROI for uprising.

But 60k are the biggest residential units so that'll have to do.

Booster pump for?
This new pool has a single pool pump and a booster pump used for the pool cleaner. I don't currently have a pool cleaner so I'm not entirely sure how the booster pump works - something I need to figure out. I assumed that isn't just replaced by a single variable speed pool pump, but rather replaced to make it current. I'm also not sure yet which variable speed pump - most likely the IntelliFlo.
