Hi, New pool owner here! Quickly recount , bought the pool by itself, got a maison to do our concrete around the pool, bought a slide myself to put in my pool. This is where the problem is:

The slide need a pillar of 3 feet in _concrete at 3 feet from the border of the pool to put the 1st column for the slide.. We know there is some kind of electric wire going around the pool (lights? ). We did the cement border/floor around the pool how can we do this?
We need to dig now to do this column and the contractor is giving tons of excuses to charge extra since he keep saying "I can do it..but"
Can someone advice what is the best method to get this column done in the right way?

Even though the pool pp new about the slide, the maison guy too, noone advices what to do before pouring. (sad). I learned a lot in this pool process. Thanks for all your help

The electric wire really isn’t an electric wire but it’s a bonding wire which connected the pool shell rebar to the concrete decking through a wire bonding grid. Depending on how old the pool is (is it new?) there should have been a copper bonding wire attached to the rebar structure of the pool shell in 4 places around the pool very close to the coping. And that wife is generally run back to the equipment pad and connected to the bonding lugs of any electrical equipment. The grid is designed to equalize any voltage buildup in the area around the water to prevent electric shock. It’s something that’s important but can’t capture all the details in a forum post.

Maybe you can explain more detail about what’s going on?

Welcome to TFP.

Show us pictures of your pool and the area where the slide and pillar need to go.

Do you have a link to the slide you bought and its installation manual?

I don't totally follow the issue with the electric wire going around the pool. Is this for the lights in the pool? Landscape lights? or the pool bonding wire?

Your contractor just needs to dig carefully and maybe use a metal detector in the area before he digs.

How deep does the pillar need to go into the ground?

Hi..Yes Its new ! We just finished the pool this month and its closed for the season ( New jersey here) The slide is one of those that comes in pieces to put together. I dont know why is a surprise for a contractor to see an electric wire as he called it on a text since I guess they all have one?. I am very confused. I just would like to know what is the right way to put the slide pillar which has to be deep 3 feet _cement pillar ( see the photo with the slide example). I am looking for a contractor that knows how to put this type of slide and has been hard ..very hard. I am attaching 1 photo of how my slide should look and 1 photo of the wire around the pool. (also the cement floor around the pool is done) tx for your help.

Does the wire have shielding around it or is it a single solid exposed copper wire?
