Texas Heat Advisory

They had a capacitor for my irrigation pump back when. It was a huge save because the electric supply said it was a plumbing part and the plumbing supply said it was electrical. The pool place only had pool pump capacitors.
No matter where you go you better know exactly what you want/need. There are idiots at parts houses just like anywhere else. This was evident when I was calling around for a water heater. They didn’t even know how to pronounce what they were selling. “Rim” instead of Rheem 😂 it took me a minute to figure it out. Then I started asking about specs & got crickets….

It was maddening to live in farm country and nobody had a well/irrigation pump capacitor. At both the plumbing supply and electrical supply they saw it in my hand walking in the door and announced from across the store they didn't have any.

I don't know if its common but the electric company in Hilton head has a program where they offer rebates and even install electric water heaters so might check.
I let them replace mine and it was a good deal and sent a plumber out and did a great job

Entergy MS only has rebates on the crazy expensive ones- I checked.

99 degrees at 8:30 pm
Don't think that aerator is gonna do much good over night!
I am extremely thankful that we spent the extra money on a chiller. With a smaller size pool I was worried how warm the water would get. I was looking at ScreenLogic a couple of days ago and with it set at 86, it is running about an hour late afternoon. Money well spent. it is 8:02 and 99 out side.

Can someone help me find the dry ice calculator in Pool Math. Need to lower temp by 10 degrees in 13k gallon pool.
Thanks for any help or experience

You need about 413lbs of dry ice to reduce your pool temp by 1°F …

Dry ice will also lower the pH, so probably not a great idea.

Just use some regular ice.

Seal off the lower part of the bathing suit with duct tape and then fill the bathing suit with regular ice and it will keep you cool.

Using chipped ice works best due to the extra surface area.

Dry ice looks cool

Many news reports say that the nitrogen reacted with the chlorine in the pool to create a toxic gas that caused the people to get sick.

However, the nitrogen is not going to react with the chlorine in the pool because nitrogen is very unreactive and it is in the wrong oxidation state to form a compound.

The people were injured by asphyxiation due to the displacement of regular air, which contains oxygen.

The air in Earth's atmosphere is made up of approximately 78 percent nitrogen and 21 percent oxygen.

If you dump in pure nitrogen, then there is no oxygen and this causes asphyxiation.

The air is 78% nitrogen, so if it was going to form any dangerous compounds, it would be happening all the time, but it does not form any such compounds with chlorine or anything else.

My pool is about 95 degrees. That’s a bit warm, even for me!

But finally our afternoon storms have kicked in. Makes the humidity even worse, but when It is cloudy my A/C stops crying for a bit.

Cool photos on my way home yesterday!
