Does Intellicenter spillway mode use the SWG setting for pool or spa or neither?

I did some quick testing but the intellichlor lights never started blinking in spillway mode no matter what setting I put on pool or spa in the chemistry menu. I'm not sure if it's because I needed to wait longer but I'd rather just get the answer from someone who knows.

In spa mode, all water coming from and going to the spa, the SWCG will generate at the SPA level set in the automation.

In Spillway, it will run the Pool mode SWCG setting.

Shagy,

Just to be clear.. we are talking about the actual spillway mode in the IntelliCenter and not just the fact that water is spilling over into the pool... Correct?

The SWCG only works if the system is in the Pool or Spa modes... (I am unsure if the SWCG will work when in the Spillway mode)..

I suspect that the reason you do not see any lights on the SWCG is that it does not work, except when in the pool or spa modes.

As a quick test, go to the spillway mode and see if any of the SWCG's lights work..

Please let us know the results of your test.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Intellicenter when in spillway mode operates the swg as if in pool mode. Mine is currently set to 40% in pool, 5% on spa. In spillway the chemistry control screen remains as output: pool

I was unsure and why I asked OP to run a quick test. His comment about the lights has me confused.

As long as the pump/filter relay is closed, the cell should be on and since it is not in the spa mode, then it should be the same output as the pool mode. So what you say makes sense, but I still can't understand the OP's SWCG lights issue...

Thanks for the course correction... :goodjob:

Thinking back, as I recall there was lots of "irregularities " with spillway mode under intellicenter firmware 2.06. On my setup, It somehow decoupled spillway from pool. @shagymoe , what firmware revision is your intellicenter on?

They do but only the lights that show the % are off.

I'll do some more testing when I get a chance, thanks everyone.

Shagy,

If any lights are on, that means to Pump/Filter relay is closed and sending power to the salt cell.

The fact that your output lights are at zero, and that Ahultin's lights seem to be working, makes it sound like a F/W issue..

As much as I'd like to upgrade to the new IntelliCenter, it is things like this that make me happy that my EasyTouch still works..

Thanks,

TLDR/
Is spillway scheduled on your Intellicenter? For my setup, spillway is in a circuit group containing pump feature circuits. I have two pumps, one only circulates spa water with 8 jets. The other pump is the pool/spa pump (6 jets) filtration, heater, etc.

The spillway circuit group has 3 feature circuits (spillway, spa pump, pool/spa pump).

Separately, I have a circuit group named all-day (24/7) that contains the Pool circuit and a pump feature circuit with the same rpm speed. In the winter, I remove the Pool circuit which turns off the SWG (No Lights) but still runs because of the feature circuit pump. I don’t remove the SWG in the off season.

With all of that said, Shagy may be running his spillway without the Pool circuit on which turns off his SWG (no lights). Which Shagy can only do if there are pump feature circuits created. OR… I don’t know what is going on with Shagy setup.

Confirm that the Circuit Type for the SPILLWAY circuit is SPILLWAY and not GENERIC.
