Hello everyone!

My name is Jim,. I am originally from Upstate NY, had a vinyl liner pool for 20 years, relocated to FL in 2021.

I now have a 14 x 28 in ground pool with sun shelf and jacuzzi, gunite with diamond coat, water from hose filled 3 weeks ago, saline generator on x 1 week.

So far so good, but I am having issue with ph 9 per meter, and at least 8.4 per test strip. I am still brushing pool surfaces as often asI can.

Any advice about ph ?

Jim

Welcome to TFP!!! :paddle:

I'd get a proper test kit. Meters need to be calibrated, at least annually. A good test kit will start you on the right foot. Link-->Test Kits Compared

I would hate to start adjusting anything until you have solid test results!

This is what we are all about. Link-->How Clear is TFP Clear?

Hi Jim :). Welcome aboard!
I hate to meet you and immediately tell you you need to buy something but.... you do. You have made an investment in this pool and how you manage the chemistry goes a long, long way in protecting its lifespan and that of your equipment.

I would ditch them both and get your hands on the TF-Pro Salt test kit. It comes with plenty of reagents which you need that will test for:
FC
CC
pH
TA
CH
CYA
Salt
and the best part is the Speed Stir device. No one whose used one ever regrets buying it.
That kit is available from www.tftestkits.net
Conversely, the Taylor K-2006C is compriable but no speed stir nor salt test kit. Found at various sellers online.

We call test strips "Guess Strips" due to the wide variance they give, and the pH meter has to be frequently re-calibrated to work well.
