Hi - had a quick question about output percentage and temperature. Is there a chart or anything that can help with scaling up the output% as the temperature rises. This is the first summer of the pool and so far we have been dialed in all the chemicals. Just as the heat started to hit the chlorine level dropped bc I had the output % around 40%. I added some shock and bumped up to 75% which should help.

wasnt sure if there was a rule of thumb based on the temperature and output%s.

thanks!

Use your daily testing of FC to dial in your SWCG.

Use PoolMath Effects of Adding to adjust the SWCG to create the FC you need each day.

Air temperature has little effect on FC consumption. UV impact and bather use primarily dictates FC consumption.

Trial and error is probably your best bet. If won't take long for you to figure out what is needed. Also, if the forecast is for higher temperatures, it would be prudent to target the upper range in FC to have extra margin.

Based upon my own testing and electrolysis theory, production does increase slightly with water temperature so that should help. But you are correct in that you will probably need a bit higher production to compensate for higher FC degradation due to higher water temperatures.

Thanks. Yea it's been cloudy and rainy here in the northeast all summer. Finally warm and sun all day as my pool also gets sun all day. We will just keep an eye on it daily and adjust.

What is the proper chlorine level for a SWG pool. I know 1-3ppm but I also see people saying 5+ is best. We target 1-3, but that might be why we drop slightly in all day sun.

I am in the range of 30-50. Maybe I should add a little more conditioner and that will help as well. I'll have to check tonight after I bumped up the SWG this morning.

How are you testing your pool water chemistry. CYA in a 'range' is not a great way to maintain your pool water chemistry.
