So I got a 15x48 pool package, delivered today. Above ground, 14" sand filter. Very glad to be here and very happy to have a place to learn. I'm gonna start setting up this weekend. Have a few questions. I have an opening kit, Taylor 2006 test kit, gonna probably just hose fill. I do know when I grew cannabis my water ph'd high.
so, What should I add to my water to start? What do I use for under the liner base sand to level everything? I do have the app but have no test yet.
Thanks for all info, hopefully I can do this smoothly as possible and swim the holiday weekend.

Welcome to TFP!!! :shark:

When you get it filled, post a full set of results in a thread under "Testing and Balancing your Water."

Great read to get you started. Link-->Pool Care Basics

Start a thread in "under construction" for advice on the pool setup.

Here is a great resource....

So add nothing to my hose water?
Read through pool care basics to get an idea about what you will need to manage and how to do it.

Read these articles:

Fill the pool and test your water. Post your results to "Testing and Balancing your Water" and someone will help you.

I would have Chlorine Stabilizer and liquid chlorine available. Depending on your pH, you may need some muriatic acid.

I would recommend you download pool math to your phone...will help you with chemical additions. Link-->PoolMath

Hey quick question as I got water going in and was doing the pump. Was planning on just running to an outlet, but it's telling me I must run a ground all around the pool? Can so one maybe give me some quick advise. Don't know if I should stop filling it? Please help.

Ok question, I'm almost to the skimmer with water and figure I'd see how it tested. Test kit say match color. Book is black and white? Am I missing something?? I see the ph

We don't put any faith in the pool store tests. What are the results from the K-2006? Also, how old is that kit and how has it been stored?

Perfect! Just wanted to make sure it wasn't an old test kit that had been sitting in an outdoor pool shed or something. Go ahead and run the tests with that.

So what I'm see is close to what the store print out say. I did walk out with some alkalinity up and hardness. Guy said add both but wait 4 hours between but the bucket says not the same day??

Post your test results.
Your pool does not need calcium. It is vinyl. Return that.
The alkalinity stuff is baking soda. If you paid more than $1 a pound, you got taken.
