Total newbie. I have A new pool and a AquaLink RS control. Everything the pool company i stalled Is fine. I wanted to add control for the pool landscape lighting. I added A breaker and connected to relay 6. I thought The ‘extra aux’ on app would control it. But no joy. Any advice. Any specific detail on wiring (in case I messed up) and is there a dip switch i need To check. I get Electricity to input of relay but none at output. Help!

Does the relay "click" when the appropriate button on the panel is pressed?

Assume you are running the latest firmware T.2.
On the System Setup screen there is a button for Label Aux. Once there you can select Lights and establish a name for that Label then you assign a aux to it. Is that how you have it set up?

Yes on firmware - at least that’s what they said. Will try your suggestion tomorrow

When I press Aux 6 or 7 no lights come on - no clicking. How do I establish/ assign it? I do not have a separate unit to program/ assign. I do have the app

What does your help screen show, let’s see how outputs your system supports? If you have the app you can hit the “web” button on the top right to get to the web interface.

If your system isn’t at least a RS-6 system the sixth relay won’t be supported.

Then take a look at the “Label Auxiliaries“ screen in the ”system setup“ menu and see which Aux the “Extra Aux“ is assigned to. It should be assigned to Aux 6. I believe the Aux6 and Aux 7 main panel buttons only work if you have the panel in service mode, they aren’t active when the panel is in auto mode. When you tried the panel buttons did you switch the panel into service mode first?

Sorry - I did not understand the " assigned to Aux 6' part. In the screen below it, Circuit Name was Extra AUX and I changed it to Yard Light. But I do not know how Extra Aux is connected / assigned to Relay 6.

The next screen shows I have RS-6 Combo model
I have not tried the service mode switch for Aux 6. Does this mean they can only be activated when in service mode. That would not work for me with the landscape lights

Look that the screenshots below. It depends on which system you have RS4, RS6 or RS8 as to which Aux are active

I have never figured out how the Extra Aux is used. Per the opt manual

Extra AUX
System features (for example, light dimming, software
labeling, and timed aux) can be assigned to the extra
AUX button. Only freeze protection cannot be assigned
to the extra auxiliary.

How do I check - I installed a new breaker, and connected the landscape lights transformer to relay 6. Power goes to relay input but nothing on output. I am missing something the steps here. I have RS-6 Combo
How many relays are actually in your system? A picture would be good. Your RS will only support 6 total, even though there are more available sockets on the PCB.

Per your screen printout, you only have RS-6. Show a picture of the relays where the main electrical hookups are done because you say you have 8 so that is confusing.

I will get a pic. I have 8 relays installed. 7 have connections made by the pool company. One was not and I was told that was the Extra Aux. I connected landscape lights to that relay.
RS6 will only control 6 relays, not 8. A Jandy 5098 relay-splitter will allow one aux socket to control 2 relays, but they will both activate at the same time.

I it possible to upgrade from RS6 to RS8 and how?
Yes. Three ways, depending on which board you have now. If your existing board has the smaller "daughter board" CPU on the back you can get an RS8 CPU board to replace it, R0466801.

If it doesn't have the separate CPU, the RS8 upgrade kit is R0468501.

Or an 1Q30-RS upgrade to get WiFi control as well.

Okay, you have a RS-6, but I was confused with the Extra Aux label and it's usage. With a bit of searching the Extra Aux is the same thing as the Solar Pump relay circuit, and it can be used as an Extra Auxiliary relay if you don't have a Solar system control enabled.

Plug your lighting relay into the "Solar Pump" relay socket, third from the right on the bottom, see below:

And then you should be able to turn the lights on and off via the Extra Aux, or now your Yard Lights function.
