So I called our pool company about closing this fall. They said they only service pools that are in their open/close bundle. So I guess we're on our own! We're closing our own pool...

I'm heading to menards this weekend to pick up a ceiling fan for the cabana. Was planning to pick up the anti-freeze to close our pool. What kind do I get? How much? I watched a video of someone closing their inground pool and they had 3 gallons.
Btw it's cold today. COLD. 65 degrees. I'm headed out to mow... long pants & long sleeves...

Our coverstar pool cover won't open... 
It has power but the reel is not spinning...

Do you hear a clicking?? Check the "dog" (I think its called?) which is a small shear pin sticking out of the gear... it sometimes gets displaced or broken off and that doesn't allow the "gear" on the roller to "catch". That's all I know... Skippy fixed ours but he's not available now to ask. I'll check with him tomorrow. My cover is by Pool Cover Specialists, so it may be different than yours?
My husband is out ratcheting the pool cover off. Love that man!
All the hardscaping was finished over the winter. We just ordered more polywood chairs for the fire pit. I also picked up some pots from work for the cabana. I can't wait for Spring to be here and I can post pics. 
#preach. With highs in the 50s for the foreseeable future, it's getting closer and closer.
Just think how much easier opening is gonna be this year.
Also, only fill to the pipe.

I've got spring fever now too! Just ordered a couple of new polywood chairs as well and have my eye on one of the couches. I can tell Im getting exciting for pool season because Im back to checking in on TFP Can't wait to see how it all came together Snoo

It could be the cover not letting light through most of it. Or a bunch of sediment blew in under the cover and settled on the bottom and you're seeing that. Or both.

Yeah I think it might be sediment. Maybe both. Well, I know how to slam. Plan to open in a few weeks!
TFP should work out a Polywood discount because we also just purchased two lounge chaises. Can't wait to open in the next week or so. What's the plan for the flower pots? Annuals? Vegetables? We're going to need to do some decorating around our pool area this year so I'm trying to take inspiration from anywhere I can at the moment.
We have spent so much on polywood over the last few years. The plan for pots is annuals (shady) in the cabana. We have raised beds for our garden.
Husband took a peek under the cover and says the water is pretty clear and that the color is just a reflection off the cover. Maybe but I'm not optimistic. Get out your popcorn, we'll find out in a week or so!
