Hi. Im looking into adding a saltwater chlorine generator to my system. To do this, Ill need to re-work some plumbing coming out of my heater (Raypak 014784). I've found some replacement parts for the nut/flange that connects the pvc to the heater, but they were very expensive (2 pack for about $50). Are there any alternate options out there that would be cheaper but have the same capabilities? Thanks in advance!

The CMP 21023-000-000 union might work, but I am not 100% sure.

The number is close, but not exact.

Thank you! Are these 2" union parts generally compatible or do they tend to all be a little different? I wasn't sure if it was a situation where they were just charging more b/c people don't know that there are plenty of other compatible parts. In general, it looks like the $50 for 2 price wasn't that far out of line, but maybe a little high.

Some manufacturers use unions with proprietary threads.

Not all unions are a like.

I would get the actual ones to avoid problems unless you can verify that the threads are exactly the same.

Even a tiny difference can make the union come loose during operation even if the nut threads on and seems ok.

There are different thread counts, pitch, and even types of threads like buttress vs. a "V" thread.

If you have a heat gun you might try removing the existing pipe from the union to re-use it. Buying a good pvc reamer might also work but likely more expensive than paying for replacement unions.

A 2" CPVC pipe nipple should thread into the header. From there a union can be attached. A 2" pipe extender could be inserted into the existing connectors after the old pipe is cut off. Add a coupler and you're good from there. Hard to tell without a picture of what is now in place. The threads, like most everyone else's, are proprietary and at the very least would need to be CPVC like the originals if something else was found to fit. CPVC=expensive compared to regular PVC.
