IG Vinyl Build: It's Happening!

What chemistry issues arise from concrete dust getting in the pool?
For a vinyl pool with chemistry in range, it's mostly a breathing hazzard. It'll raise the Ph some and be corrected easily enough. Still tho, I wouldn't want it on my brand new liner if it was easily avoidable.

The lay out and cuts can be a bit of an art in itself. I personally would let them know to put as many as they feel are necessary. Some times they will be reluctant to put to many in as most folks do not like to see them. I would much rather look at more cuts as apposed to cracks....Just My Humble opinion.... Of course even with more cuts there are no guarantees in that game....

This one might just have enough cuts to keep the concrete looking good. Personally, thinking a checkerboard pattern so the kids can sidewalk chalk it to look like Bloomingdales. It is their 150th anniversary and all.

I was probably a little flippant with E5 when I first used the robot 2 weeks ago, but I sure am glad we got our 5th child for pool duties! I don’t know what I’d do without the robot. The pool would be so dirty since I’m not running my pump. So happy to know I’ll be cleaning the pool without clogging my filter!

The 30 mph winds yesterday didn’t help us keep the concrete dust out of the pool. Raised my pH to 8.2 from 7.8. Can I add muriatic acid to lower the pH without the pump running, obviously with a lot of brush mixing?

Should be fine. Can also throw E5 in the pool as that will help move the water around.

Thanks for the confirmation! E5 is already on his 4th cycle from yesterday. I have no idea how much concrete dust and dirt were blown in yesterday, but it’s a lot 😑

Just have to caulk the expansion joint tomorrow and then I am clear for final inspection and closing the pool for winter (to include initial install of the safety cover.)

I'm a bit bummed at the moment though. I got caught in a passing 5 minute rain while I was installing my polymeric sand. Now some of it is stuck to the top faces of the pavers, so I'm sure it's a bit messed up. I should have checked the radar right before I started, but I'm just dead dead tired from working on this for literally 8 straight days. It's bittersweet that it's over but not perfect, but I am just too tired to feel much more than relief that it's in the past. We'll see what the pavers look like when they dry. Maybe It'll look awful and I'll pressure wash the whole thing and re-sand. Or maybe it'll be hardly noticeable and I won't care. Either way, I need a drink and to just enjoy not having to cut and lay any more pavers.
Whoa, that looks amazing! Some fine paver work there. I’ll bet your tired, enjoy a cold one!

I’d imagine you won’t notice some of those “imperfections”. I’ve noticed a few spots in the concrete when I was going around inspecting it, but in looking at the whole deck, it’s not even noticeable.

Oof, just realized I posted that in the wrong thread. Sorry about that, but thanks for the kind words anyway!

😂 it happens. I’d been trying to follow your build too so just assumed you wanted to share your progress since both our decks got done at the same time.
