Looking for the grey drain plug for P-M266a heater. Only thing I find is 00627F which is a kit with one grey plug and one brass petcock. Just looking for two grey plugs like original. Anybody know where to find just the grey plug?
This is what I find everywhere I look:

Auto parts store, 1/4" brass radiator drain plug.

It's probably just a 1/4" npt plug that you can get at any hardware store.

Maybe in brass.

I'd rather stick with plastic. The heater header is some type of composite material and I don't want to risk stripping the threads with a brass plug.
I did check at hardware store as well as plumbing supply store with no luck. Another local pool store has the same kit with a plastic plug and a brass petcock.
Any other ideas?

So, I noticed the comment above about not using PTFE. A few weeks ago, I replaced a fitting on the heater manifold that is plastic, going into the non-metalic manifold on the heater. I used a white Loctite brand pipe sealant (pipe dope back in the old days) that apparently has PTFE in it.
Am I going to need to take that back apart and clean the sealant off? What type of tape or sealant doesn't have PTFE in it? I haven't seen anything on the packaging of products I have on hand.

The concern with PTFE is that the lubrication will cause the installer to potentially overtighten the thread and crack a plastic female part.

If it is not leaking, I would not take it apart unless the product specifically says to not use for that application.

Any sealant that is used for a purpose should have the applications that the sealant is suitable for and the applications that the sealant is not suitable for.

The recommended sealant from McMaster.com is shown in the link on the page.

Thank you for all the great information. I took your advice and contacted Loctite. They advised that the pipe sealant was not rated for plastic and that it may not setup properly and could lead to deterioration of the plastic fitting. I took it apart and cleaned the sealant off, replacing with tape. Feels good, but it will be spring before I can test it.
I would have never thought about a compatibility problem if it weren't for the information you shared about plastic drain plugs, I want to replace.
