Kihei Maui

Its not a trip to Maui unless you play Kapalua.

Just saying.

Plantation course or Bay course?

BT done both and prefer the views of the Bay course.

Plantation course is most expensive round in Maui.

The Wailea courses are closer to Kihei and very nice.

Don't play golf.... I just sat behind the Ritz in Kapalua and had a few cocktails.

I actually prefer the Big Island......

We were there last May. Didn’t get to play, but walked down part of a cart path to get to the Dragon’s Teeth hike. Wind was at least 30mph blowing into the tee box. Pretty funny watching people trying to tee off.

We said that the ticket would be “Free”*.

Notice the quotation marks and the asterisk?

In the supermicroprint it says that the “Free” ticket would require a few fees

The charges for shipping, handling, taxes, printing, customs, luggage, travel agency, finder’s fee, insurance, undercoating, destination charge, interagency fee, fuel surcharge, undisclosed charge, permits, inspections etc. all add up to $9,875.00, which has not been paid in advance as stipulated.

As soon as this amount is paid in cash, we will be happy to send you your “Free” ticket.

We went to Maui several years ago. My husband's parents let us use their time share in Kihei (Maui Schooner).
There is so much to do and see, but it's much more laid back than Oahu, just take your time and drink it all in.

We spent a whole day doing a self guided audio tour of the road to Hana. I can't remember all the stops, but there were several where we stopped and saw taro fields from up on the mountain, and hiked to a waterfall, drove all the way to the Seven Sacred Pools in Hana and hiked down to the black sand beach.
We watched the sunrise from Haleakala (bring a jacket or blankets, it's cold!) and then that same evening watched the sunset from the beach at our resort. I honestly really enjoyed just sitting on the beach and looking out at the horizon to try and make out some of the other islands. You also might get lucky and see some whales, although it's still kind of early for them.
We went to the aquarium, to a luau, had some phenomenal fish and chips from Paia Fish Market, and on a lazy rainy day we went and got some marinated short ribs and BBQ'd them out by the pool at the time share and played board games.
We picked mangos at the beach after we went snorkeling. Took a tour boat out to Molikini Crater and did some Snuba diving and saw some turtles and some gorgeous fish. Got shave ice. We spent a lot of time eating lol
I'm jealous, you're gonna have a blast.

Anyone been to Kihei Maui? I'm going in late October and I can not wait. My brother went last year and he wanted me to go this year and I am so stupid excited. Just wondering if anyone has been there n wanted to post must see's and must do's while there?
Must do? Relax and do what ever looks interesting to you. Haven't been in 20 years but eating, drinking, snorkeling and sight-seeing is about it. Road to Hana is fun, extint Volcano is hot and dusty. Nice to see for a short time. Turtles and dolphins were pretty amazing. Don't take any rocks home, they are cursed

I read that it is very disrespectful towards the natives to take sand and rocks home. I'm not about all that. I will probably buy souvenirs. Thank you for your thoughts.

You might want to check the small print on your vehicle rental contract. In 2018, our rental agreement clearly stated that ‘no roadside assistance will be provided on highway 360, south of Hana’. Mind you, that doesn’t stop people from driving that stretch anyway…
The best decision we made on that trip was an overnight stay in Hana; much more interesting to drive that road under different lighting condition and way more enjoyable; otherwise it is a real mileage marathon.

7 full days. We're leaving Pittsburgh airport at 9:30pm and flying into SanFransisco airport for the layover n then off to the Island. I'm so excited to go. I told my brother that I have a lot of online friends that have probably been there and he said get as much information as possible for things to do. He went for the first time last year n wanted to go back. This will be my first time. I love beaches so I'm stoked being a beach bum for awhile. I'll take all the information you guys can cram into this thread up until October when we leave on the 26th. P.S. We're renting a Jeep for the rough terrain.
There really isn't any rough terrain requiring a jeep. A standard SUV or car would be more comfortable and cheaper.
