New Pool Build In Progress - IG Vinyl

He is looking for the next check is my bet :( Knows there must be work done before he can get it so.....................
I'm sure he is plus he said two of his guys called in sick yesterday, meaning, they just didn't want to go to work. In our area we have some big factories where a lot of people work. He said they are letting you pick your hours you work and are paying a lot of money. Makes it hard to find people who want to work and do manual labor for less pay. That's why I'm not a business owner...LOL

I'm supposed to meet him to discuss how many steps down from the house or patio we will have and if we would rather have the steps come down from the patio vs from the house. Regardless of what we do, I want wide treads on the stairs.

Met with PB earlier today to discuss where we would have to have a step or steps in order to keep from having a small retaining wall on the opposite side of the sunroom. Part of that issue was we didn't want to relocate our heatpump which was going to cost me about $1000 from the HVAC company.

What we came up with was to extend the patio to the driveway and have it the same height as the driveway (currently there is a step down from the driveway to the sidewalk right in front of the gate) and then have a curved step down to the pool deck. So we will have one step out of the house to the patio and then one step down to the pool decking.

Also think we are back to 9' wide decking on each side of the pool.

9' was what we had at the old house and it was usually enough. Lounge chairs left enough room for a person to comfortably walk by also, which seems so silly, but is a big deal.

I'm just realizing now that you got the steps I wanted with the benches in the sides. Again, it seems so silly. My 8 ft wide steps are all bench, and a few levels of bench. But those 2 benches in your steps got used ALL the time, by young and old. They are just a great height to be fully under but have a dry head. Those stairs and the liner being unavailable last year is what pushed me to this year. When steps finally showed up and they were the wrong ones, I made peace with it.

I figure it’s better to go wider now then regret it later.

You know I hadn’t even noticed what you were talking about with the benches in the stairs.Ha….I’ll have to look next time I’m out back.

I mean we don’t have a huge house, around 1800 sq ft. Just my wife and I but dang that pool and then all the concrete that we will have is going to make the house look smaller. It already does in the pics. Lol

His and Hers. And it was one of the many things given to us the first time that we had no idea were even a thing, or how much we'd like them.

Told my wife and she was like Ooooo I’m gonna like that. She doesn’t like to get her head wet. Lol rafts and now a stair bench will be her new home…especially with the year old granddaughter.

Went home at lunch...They have the concrete decking area tamped down. They cut down one of our three big rose bushes, one is in the way of the patio and the other is in the way of the equipment pad. That's going to make my mom sad when she see's those pictures. It was my parents house before they had to go to assisted living. She did all the landscaping, it was her baby. They have rebar drove laying out the pool decking for the forms. I'm guess that they are getting ready to take down the section of fence between the driveway and the new patio area, then grade that area.

As usual pics to follow tonight.

reading through your build is reminding me of my current build. Very stressful!

Apparently it is Very stressful...

sounds like a major bit of work done! SWEET!

They did, it really changed the look from the driveway by my shop by having the fence and all the landscaping gone that was there. I actually kinda like it like that.
Which leads me to the question of do I get a white vinyl privacy fence to put back or do I go with a more traditional pool fence? When you come down our road you can see the pool and patio without a privacy fence in that spot but it also would make the patio feel more open without the privacy fence. It's not like we get much traffic, we are the next to last house on a cul-de-sac road. Other then our neighbors that live diagonal staring over all the time. LOL

Got home late last night so I couldn't take any pics and left for work before it was the sun was up. I'll have to take pictures tonight. As far as pictures go, there isn't a lot to see change wise, most of it was small stuff, move this, add this, put in a conduit here, put some gravel there. Layout the slope and hopper area again and fix that. That's the kind of stuff that got done yesterday. Probably more done than that, just can't really tell.

Almost makes you think they are sitting around the corner to watch for you to leave
I wish that applied to when we leave for work at 6:00am. LOL

The added stress of trying to keep 4 dogs in the temporary yard is starting to get to me. Let them out yesterday evening and was doing something inside, 10 minutes later I went out and only one was still there. They got under the temp fence into the back yard, which doesn't have part of the fence up now. They were all just running around acting crazy...LOL I was worried they were gone when I first went out. Could of been down the road or in the woods. Have to keep a closer eye on them.

So I've been thinking about what type of flood light and how many of them I should put on the side of the shop that faces the pool. I was thinking something on the lines of LED ones that you can change the color of. It's easier to install them on the shop wall and run power to them, then it is if I put them on the house. I can control all my shop lights from my smarthome switches on my tablet.

Looking at the picture below, where and how many lights would you use? One towards each corner? should they be the two light kind that I can aim one towards the pool and the other out in the yard? There is only the light fixture at our back door currently.
