New Pool Build In Progress - IG Vinyl

It's like graduating from college. You run out of classes to take, and you graduate-- they hand you the paper. The end of the pool build is pretty anti-climatic, just like that.

It looks good so far even though it's being build on post-COVID time. I feel for you, it was frustrating getting through my build and by todays standards it was lightning fast!

Good luck!

Talked to the PB last night and I asked about having more crew come out, otherwise they just keep spinning their wheels when they only work a day and then it rains. He said he's had 3 out sick, blah blah blah. Three showed up this morning, got their stuff out, then put it up and left. Guess it was just a tad muddy. We are in a pattern of it being dry on the weekends followed by rain on Monday or Wednesday's. He's going to have to have his crew working on the weekend or they won't make any progress.

Update: they finished laying out the pavers yesterday morning before it stormed. Came back today with a trailer loaded with the pool panels, parts and steps. He was thinking about not driving in my yard. I said do it anyway, it’s not wet and your truck won’t sink. We didn’t get much rain from the storm.

They’ve been unloading it all and laying it out. Haven’t been home to see what they have done.

Need to look under the cover for the steps and see if he ordered white or grey. Supposed to be grey but we really don’t care.

Bro in law has been just adding shock to his new pool and using a sump pump to stir the water up. They’ve been using it…don’t think that’s very sanitary. No equipment hooked up yet.

Checked the steps and they are white. That’s fine as long as we get the correct liner. Lol

The panels are polymer, I just assumed they’d be steel but never asked.

They got one side up and anchored. Supposed to rain early in the morning.

It HAS begun!!! Sweet!! OH NO on the rock! Here is hoping they get it out today.
Looked like they had it busted up to below grade. They are usually at my house by now, I'm betting with perfect weather today that they are a no-show.

One thing you can't really tell from the pic, is how much higher the yard will be around the pool and over to the house. On the left side of the pool it's about 2' from top of wall to the existing grade and on the right side it's 1.5'. That's going to change the look of what we are used to by a lot. Already looks different with just the panels in. LOL

They came out for about 2 hours today. Put down lime in all the areas that need to dry, put in the last two panels, made sure everything was square. Not sure if they will be back tomorrow because of another job they are on. He said they will put stairs in when the area where it goes dries more, then do the concrete. They also will have to dig out the deep end some more with a mini excavator.

Took some pics at lunch, they are gone for the day from what I can tell. Supposed to get rain the next couple of days, then a few days of no rain followed by a week of rain.
Lots of gravel dropped off….my yard from the street to the back is starting to look rough, between the concrete truck and all the loads of gravel.

What I hate is that the contract is 30% down, 30% at dig, 30% at first conc. pour and 10% at completion. Well If I pay him the two remaining 30%'s, that only leaves me with $4,750 worth of leverage. Not a fan of that and I don't know if I agree with paying $28,540 today. He still has a lot left to do, just makes me nervous that he might drag his feet on getting mine done.

Sexy!

That split up contract stuff is law here in Arizona, no negotiation on it is possible! It's not law there I don't think. Have a discussion with him about that. It does help them out with materials though, and paying the dig sub.. but you could state that you are a little disappointed in the schedule adherence so far and see if that gets you anywhere. Unfortunately, it's like the plague in the entire industry and beyond now. Productivity in the US is general is down like 3% now from before the pandemic. Hopefully this will turn around. The work at least looks good so far for you. You'll get there....

I really don't think he will drag it out, I think he was really that behind and finally is catching up or has caught up. I have no problem paying him what the contract shows but I will see what he want's now. His contract shows 30% at liner installation or first concrete pour, whichever comes first. So I'm really not sure if this is what he considered first concrete pour. To me it's the first concrete pour but maybe his contract also covers AGP as well, hence the liner installation part.

Also I'm thinking about cutting down the concrete decking on the side and deep end from 9' sides, 5' deep end to 8' sides, 4' deep end. He had mentioned doing more concrete on the shallow end and by making those cuts, it would be a wash money wise. is 8' on the sides enough?

Beautiful day...no one there yet

Funny how the PB's wife had ask if I could give her husband a check last Saturday but I didn't see that message until later. I've told the PB and her multiple times that I have a check for them, which is made out for a little more than they asked for. Crickets!!! LOL
