Pool company says this formation on floor of wet edge (pebble Tec) saltwater pool is heavy scale buildup and only solution is to acid wash. My chemicals have always been spot on and checked every week. Has anyone
else experienced this? Started when pool was first built 3 years ago and has only gotten worse

Well I gave up trying to figure out color variations in my testing kit so I have gone to Leslie’s every week for the last 2 1/2 years and depend on their reports. Here is my last one. The ph is way high but usually find it to be about 7.8-8.0 by end of week.

The forum does not provide guidance based on pool store testing.

Take care.
Really ? Why is that? My own tests seemed so subjective based on lighting and my ability to judge color variations that I thought an official store test would actually be better. Is that an erroneous assumption 😖

Though your pool store I am sure is quite good, the specificity of the test results you received should not be confused with accuracy. The equipment must be cleaned between each sample tested, calibrated, and maintained. We have found few pool store tests that come close to the accuracy and repeatability of pool owner water chemistry testing.

I totally hear you, the color comparator tests are super hard to read. I struggle with the pH one constantly. That's the bad news.

The good news is that if you use the recommended K-2006C or TF-100 / TF Pro test kits, the pH one is the ONLY test that you have to try to judge based on color comparison. All the other tests are much easier to interpret as you get dramatic color changes when adding a drop of reagent and can easily tell what your levels are based on the number of drops that were required to get the color change. It's super easy and way better than the comparator blocks.

You won't get guidance on pool store tests because this site does not consider them reliable. For someone to give you advice on unreliable results they could in fact make your situation worse. Your best bet is to get one of the recommended test kits so that you have accurate results. Then come back here, post results, and ask advice for your concerns. You will then get plenty of help and support.

I’ll definitely try it
