Imagine Illusion 40 Complete 10/19/21

Super impressive determination, Casey. I know you were out of options but not too many people would’ve taken this repair on themselves. You’ve probably got mad defined shoulders now, can add ‘extensive pool plumbing repairs‘ to your resume, and have picked up a young admirer. High five?
My shoulders were definitely burning from using the digging iron. I gotta get moving n go clean my filter. My pool and the decking is a mess. I think the pool is cleaner than the decking though.

I had a duh moment in getting the pool up n running. I had my return lines closed off n couldn't understand why my pump wouldn't fill with water. Ugh I shut the pump down and was talking :poop: to myself saying That's not how it works!!!! so I opened them and started the pump and there was water flow.

I cleaned the filter out too. I don't know why I have a trail of DE in the pool on the pad. I'm not 100% comfortable with that DE Filter yet. I actually took all the grids off and tried to remember how to put them back on. I don't know.... I hate seeing DE in the pool.

Some pics for the record board.
Gotta give you props!!! You did some hard work especially with the heat. Great Job!!
I got my butt handed to me fixing that. And it's funny because a guy at work told me to hire a professional and I told him, I am the professional!

You can likely adjust your pump to go lower in the menu settings. The PB likely just picked a high and low threshold based on your SWG. Going with a lower RPM will free up the vacuum from sticking if the problem persists once this is done.

I'm thinking it was either a defective couple of feet of pipe and it collapsed, or they somehow crushed it and didn't realize it at the time. The PB will blame the soft toy (that can't make it through a straight pipe with no 90s), but this is his responsibility under warranty not yours.

Those were my thoughts as well.

The vacuum sucking to the pool bottom is not caused by a collapsing pipe, but it can help lead to a collapsing pipe. When the end of the vacuum sucks to the bottom the pump is going to build a negative pressure in the pipe, and if there is a weak section it can collapse it.

My ABG vacuum will suck to the bottom of my pool, especially after I bump my filter - and I only have 20' runs of hard pipe. It is just a matter of the RPMs being too high (or the brushed on your vacuum being worn)

Dragging a nut (or 3) through the pipe on a string is hardly a way to figure out what is going on in there. I have a bore scope and have scoped a number of my drain lines. It really is the only good way to figure out what is going on.

Any way, it is now a moot point, as the issue has been resolved. Happy to hear that.

I could only work with what I had and after throwing everything at it for 4 days and still not being able to get water through the pipe, I was done messing around with it. I was at my last resort n that was eliminating the line all together. It's done. I'm still tired over it. I have a lot of work to do to fix the landscaping now n most of all... I have water flow.

@phonedave if you were closer, I'd let you put your camera in the line so we could all see what was going on. I don't know what else it would be? I'm tired wracking my brain over it. Lol

And at that point, so what if it was aliens? It's not anymore.

I mean. We'll probably all debate it until the end of time, but the only meanful part is you have flow.
Exactly. And I worked my behind off after being in a hot concrete jungle all day. 4 days was enough for me.

Yesterday was the first time I got into the pool since it went down mid July. My daughter called to ask if I wanted her and I said yes. We went out to eat dinner around 4pm and we had plan to swim as soon as we got back. It was postponed for a few hours due to severe lightning and thunderstorms. We did end up in the pool by 2030 and had a night swim which we love!!! She looked at me and said, LaLa the pool works so good since you fixed it doesn't it? I told her, yes it does! Swimming with her fills my heart and she was just what I needed yesterday because I've been feeling so alone. My granddaughter asked me, Do you know who taught me how to swim? I already knew the answer but I wanted to hear her say it... I asked her Who?! She said YOU!!! The time we spend in that pool is nothing short of amazing. We have bonded in water and she learned to trust me with her life in water. Our favorite game is Frisbee. She gets the shallow end and I get the deep end. The pool lights offered enough light for us to still see it coming. No one else plays with it but her and I. We just toss it back and forth. Then it was into the hot tub for 20 minutes. She asked me if Pappy would have loved the hot tub? I told her Pappy would have loved both the hot tub and the pool. I'm so glad he got to see the pool finished, her swimming in it and it lit up at night... he just didn't get to swim in it. We were both missing him last night.

Started to backfill the trench. It's a lot of work for me on my own. I'm just going to do a little at a time until it's done. It's the only thing I can do. I got to the corner n quit. It's hot n muggy. I'm using up the 3/8" crushed stone chips from the pool build that's piled in the driveway.

I go to bed to early to actually enjoy it because it's so hot outside. I was in it with my granddaughter on Saturday night.

If u can get up early enough to beat the heat a little & get a 15-30 min soak in with a cup of coffee ☕️ It will be 💯percent worth it! It’s the only time it’s cool enough here for the hot tub lately anyway - i have it turned down to 100. It’s been maintaining temp all by its little foam filled, roto molded self, I don’t think the heater has run in a month! I joke that I basically have a multiple human sized yeti cooler on my patio & that if it craps out we’ll fill it with ice & beer.
My kids are always like “Mom! we gotta go to school - get out of the hot tub already!!” 🤣

I get up at 0330. I can't get up any earlier. It hurts getting up that early! That's why I have a bed time of 2000.
