Hi all,

My Pentair Intellitouch i5s seems to be acting up. Specifically:
  • I noticed the automation didn't seem to be working anymore.
    • When I looked at the App, it showed that there was a "System Delay" with "Pool Off Delay".
    • I can't cancel the delay and/or perform any actions from the app or the wall controller in the house.
  • If I go out to the pad, put the system into service mode, it seems the main pump is always on/has power.
    • Hitting the "F - Filter Pump" button causes a click, the first one loud, second one quieter
    • However the pump itself always has power and can be manually controlled w/ start & stop button (Whisper/IntelliFlo VS Pump)
    • All other functions (booster, heater) seem to work fine in service mode.
  • Also, of note, the temperature sensors (air and water) don't seem to register at all.
I'm assuming the relay has gone bad? Perhaps the best thing to do is swap the main relay for the one all the way on the right that is not used? Would love any tips and/or advice. Attached a few photos to help folks with the setup. Appreciate your help!

Had a few yesterday, so decided to swap the relays. No dice, same behavior. Also, on the screen logic config app - I am not seeing the “pool” circuit. Leads me to believe something has gone sideways with the main board.

Have you tried using the RESET on the panel? It will not erase anything, just reboots.

Intelliflo VS pump is supposed to have constant power and not wired through the filter pump relay.

The Intelliflo VS pump should be controlled by the RS-485 comm line.

What does the Intelliflo display show? If the pump can be controlled by its control panel then the RS-485 comm control to the pump is not active.

Post larger pics of your panel wiring as I cannot zoom in to see the details.

Thanks, this is clarifying. It seems like it is indeed wired as such.

I think this is the key - I am able to control the panel on the pump, even in Auto mode. Here are the screen shots of the pump right now (even though it's in Auto mode):

I tried hitting stop and then starting again in "program mode" and got:

Are these easier to see? I got an error originally when trying to post that my files were too big.

When your IntelliTouch is controlling the IntelliFlo pump the pump display will say Display Not Active...

There is a connector on the side of your pump. Do you have a black cable running from the connector into your IntelliTouch panel?

The other end of the cable should have yellow and green wires connected to the COMM block in your IntelliTouch panel.

While you are in the upper section of the IntelliTouch look at the connections where your Temperature sensors should be.

They are on the lower right.

Maybe something chewed on a bunch of wires or pulled them off the connectors.

Thanks - see below. The Temp sensors are connected and I re-seated them in July to make sure they were in there. Is there a resistance value I can check on the sensors themselves? Note - I'm pretty sure the home warranty guy who replaced the salt water generator in May replaced both the air and water temp sensor at the same time...

Thanks - the "display disabled" was definitely how it used to read a while back. See below for the i5s and expansion card wiring. I can trace the wires/write that up if needed. Also, if there are any places to check reistance/current, happy to do that as well...thanks for your help here!

If you have a multimeter you can check the resistance of the temperature sensors against this chart.

You can also connect a 10K resistor to the connector and the system should read 76F. If itd oesn't then you have a problem with the board.

I would disconnect the comm cable from the pump and examine it closely. We have seen reports of the pins getting corroded in the cable connector.

If the cable and connector look good I would do a continuity check between the pins int he connector and the green and yellow ends connected to the IntelliTouch.

Note that you have a fairly old version of the IntelliTouch.

Note that the IntelliFlo VSF manual says:

Quick update:
- Checked all the DC Voltage values for the temp sensors and they were good
- Checked continuity to the Pump and it was good
- Traced through all the 4 pin connections and found that the SWG controller had one hooked up and I believe it was both miswired for the Hayward device - but more importantly had two wires that were barely touching

I think this must have been the short that caused the initial issues. ScreenLogic is back to working as are the schedules and controls. Will see if it’s stable for a bit!

Thanks for all the help debugging here!
