My pool pump was not working and the technician told me that I need a new Drive. I could not order new drive but ordered a new pump. The new pump is here. My question is can we replace pump our selves or find a technician. Do anyone suggest a trusted and economical pump installer in DFW area.

thanks

Hard to say, but the actual work is very easy.

Pump should have unions at the pump; unscrew those, pulling pump away. With power breaker off, test for voltage to be sure, then pull the screw holding the cover of the wiring. Take a photo, then take wires off by loosening screw. Hook back up the same way to new pump, reuse unions, etc and off you go.

If that sounds daunting, and there’s plenty of YouTube videos you can watch, then basically ANY pool company can do the work for a few hundred bucks.

Suchi,

The IntelliFlo pump does not come with unions, but pool installers that care about their work will add unions.

All my IntelliFlo pumps have unions.

I see that JamesW has added one of your pics showing your current pump. Unfortunately, it does not have unions. the good news is that there is plenty of pipe in front of your pump to add a union. Not sure about the output side of your current pump.

Show us a pic or two of the output side of your pump.

You can't buy pump unions at Home Depot... They look like this...

Thanks,

Jim R.

For ease and speed until you can cut the plumbing, if you purchased another Whiperflow, pull the 6 bolts holding the pumps together. Slide out the old and install the new. Reinstall power and program. If there are no other issues you have just installed the pump the easiest way. Not necessarily the best, but it will work IF you bought the same pump, even if the horsepower isn't exactly the same.
Put the new basket in the pot and new lid on it, good to go.
