Pool trouble

If I want to SLAM my pool understand that I need an addition to my test kit.
I need to input my CYA as 50 since I overshot the goal.
Am I reading Pool Math correctly that I need to add 2 gallons of liquid chlorine?
Also I did add 8 oz of Algeciras on Saturday E36AAC70-309D-4057-8EE5-090C2263D587.pngC22F8236-CC4C-4021-9873-DA356ECE07A9.jpegEE62B67E-CF6D-46AD-A0E0-2DFE73FAF20B.jpeg42332BDB-E8B7-4C3A-B545-F661D91A215A.jpegAEC26482-2CE2-4D6E-9FA4-CFE2847A9BAC.jpegD7136BF2-A35A-4653-84D6-71B96636597B.jpeg
Attached are photos of my pool and the spots I believe are algae. Also a screenshot of pool math.
I appreciate all in put as I learn the TF P ways.

For now it's nothing but liquid chlorine to slam level. Get it in, have pump on and wait 15 minutes then check again if slam level was reached. If not top off as per poolmath, wait again check and top off if needed. Brush 2-3 times a day all over very well. As the nasties get consumed by the chlorine it'll start to hold longer and higher to slam level. Try to check the slam level every 3 hours till you quit for the night and then continue the next day. Make sure you have enough chlorine or else gets some before you run out.

Don’t use the oto “yellow” test for total chlorine in the blue box its not super accurate & doesn’t read above 5ppm - just use the ph part.
Use the fas/dpd one for fc & cc
Fc +cc = total chlorine
Poolmath wasn’t wrong -
You tested cya too soon & it showed no cya so u entered the wrong current level & poolmath told u to add more
This is why when u add cya you should chlorinate immediately as if it’s in the water but test 24hrs later before adding more.
Its no big deal - you just need to slam for a cya of 50ppm now instead of 30.
Slam level fc for a cya of 50 is 20ppm.
Begin SLAM Process now.
Organics are consuming your chlorine.

I have not hit slam level yet. Got as high as 17 then it dropped to 12. I am testing about every 2 hours and entering into pool math then adding chlorine as directed.
I am only testing chlorine at this time, should I also be testing something else?
Thanks

Kathi,
You're doing it wrong. You have add what poolmath advises then check in 10 minutes. If it didn't hit slam add the difference per poolmath again and again and again til it hits the first time then try back in two hours ,check and add the difference. Usually once you achieved slam it should reach every time you top it off and wont need to keep checking after adding in the missing FC. Make sure the chlorine is good and if you switch brands I'd make sure it hits slam level once or twice to be sure this process is productive.

Thank you for the clarification. I just tested and it is at SLAM level. So I need to test again in 2 hours, add the recommended dose and test 10 minutes later. And then repeat the process in another 2 hours. Got it

I guess it is back to square one! My Amazon order will arrive on Saturday. Not available locally
Let me verify the steps again.
1.test the free chlorine and use the Pool Math to determine the amount to input.
2. after entering entering the required amount of chlorine wait 10 minutes and test again.
3. if second test does not achieve slam, use Pool Math and add chlorine again.
4. wait 10 minutes and test again.
5. if test does not meet slam requirements calculate amount of chlorine to add.
6. When SLAM is reached wait 2 hours to test and start process again to achieve/maintain SLAM
Is this correct?
Thanks

Update
I am in the cycle of test, add chlorine, and then test about two more times to get slam level.
Test 2 hours later I do it all again. In that time the chlorine drops from 20 to about 16.

I brush my pool twice a day with no movement to the “stains”

I will keep this up and see how it goes. I think I have gone through 10 gallons of liquid chlorine so far. The pool water looks great, that’s a plus 😊

Ok
Taking a break. I was putty 3 cups 2 oz in five times today and never got above 18, my goal is 20 for FC
Just ran the tests, results are
FC12
CC0
TA 120
CH 675
CYA 50
PH 7.8

I will see what the numbers are tomorrow and move forward.

So. I seem to not be making progress with the pool. The stains did not reduce so they are not algae. I think I am done with SLAM an will just maintain.
My current test results are
PH 8.2
FC 7
CC 0
CYA 50
CH 575
TA 112
I guess the next step is the overnight test to see what FC will be in the morning.
Provided we don’t get a big rain tonight.

Do I need to adjust any of the current readings?
Thanks again for sharing your knowledge

To be done with SLAM you need to pass all three criteria!
  1. OCLT <= 1ppm FC
  2. CC <=.5ppm
  3. Clear pool (no debris, dead algae, nothing).
Make sure you pass all three. A good insurance policy is to SLAM one day past passing all three criteria.

Any way you can post some pics of your pool water?

My CC is 0. I have not had a CC reading through the whole process

The overnight test was a success. FC is 6
