Would this that has recently appeared on my pool be this issue? The pool was replastered in May, 2015. I just had my pool deck resurfaced with polyaspartic and paint chips, which got into the pool and circulated into the cartridge filter. It took several hours to mostly clean the gunk the chips left in the filter though I didn’t get 100% of them; the cartridge is less than 2 months old.

I also converted to an automatic chlorinator and “acidifier” piece of equipment-Cuapools.com installs and manages them-and pH has been higher than normal on and off but alkalinity is good.

Have had a hard time stabilizing any significant amount of CYA, and calcium has been higher than recommended, around 450 to 500.

There are about 6 to 8 of these patches in the same area and today is the first day I noticed them. They are all 3 to 5 or more inches in diameter.

I am not sure what to check, change, or do at this point.

It is difficult to tell for certainty from the photo, so are the 3 to 5 inch "patches" slightly bulged or raised from the immediate areas surrounding them? If so, then they are probably delaminated spots or areas. And the article about calcium nodules would be relevant to this situation.

Nothing can be done to prevent them from forming at this point. Hopefully, they won't crack and begin to form nodules. They won't and don't affect the water balance and are not caused by improper water chemistry.
