I came outside today and noticed the pump had shut off. It will not turn on. Nothing! Checked the breaker to the pump and there is electricity to the pump. It is a single speed one horsepower Hayward pump. 5 years old. Any suggestions?

Turn off the power to the pump at it's breaker. At the pump, disconnect the wires, clean their contacts/fasteners, reattach, turn back on the power.

If the motor is shot, either replace the whole unit or just the motor, coin flip.

Thanks will give it a shot. I was thinking of going to a variable speed pump anyway. Maybe a good time to do that. Any recommendations there?

You can use an ECM16CU motor to make your pump a VSP.
Your motor has had some serious overheating issues, based on the scorched label.

You are correct. Thanks for the response. The motor has been overheating. I ordered a new pump.
