What do you all have for experience?, Iv'e read that for Chlorine the active amount is the way to weigh value, some products are cheap because they are full of fillers to look like a better value than the full strength chems at the Pool Stores.

Where can 3" tablets be had that aren't the $200+ for 40lbs gouge we are seeing here in Vegas.

You won’t find many people here recommend using the 3 inch pucks. Liquid chlorine or SWG are much better choices. As far as the strength of various chemical, if you read the labels, check the dates, you should know any differences. I have a SWG and about all I ever buy is acid. Home Depot is my source for 31.45% Muriatic Acid. Their Liquid Chlorine is stored outside (106 degrees here today) so it degrades quick. Walmart is a better source for that. But you do have to check the date codes. Pool Store - never for chemicals, only if I need an O-ring or other part.

That's good to know, I just picked up 8 gals from HD here in Vegas, it was out in teh garden center. It's been triple digits for a couple weeks and we just had an excessive heat warning for several days that ended on Sat, 109-112 degree HI's. I knew about sunlight of coarse but didn't know heat alone would degrade the product in jugs. I'll have to go look WM over and see where it's kept; Robot or human?

Not sure if you have a Menard's near you but 12.5% Chlorine for $3.99 plus an 11% rebate. My local Menard's shows 1002 in stock.
We don't, moved from the cold of MN in 2009 to Vegas, God I miss Menard's and Fleet Farm :( When we go back to the Midwest to visit relatives we make it a point to go to a Menard's.

12.5% is great, commonly I see 10%. gotta love Menard's rebates too!

Where in MN? I was born in Minneapolis and raised in South St. Paul. Still have family in the area.
