Hey everyone,
New to the forum! Great site. I’ve been trying to fix my chlorine generation issue, since last year. At first, I thought for sure the cell needed replacement, because it quit suddenly and was 7 yrs old at the time; replaced with a new unit and still have lights and not generating. After reading a few other treads on other forums, the likelihood of a faulty pcb was the next step. Remove, inspect (no cold solder), replaced anyway; no change. I live in Canada, so I had to close the pool by that time. The only thing remaining were the rectifiers, which I just changed today and it’s still not resolved. I’m at my witts end. As you can see, there are solid indicator lights; check salt, inspect cell. It works independently from the pump. Salt was adequate when troubleshooting last year (haven’t tested yet this year). Display registers about 31v, correct cell is chosen. Any ideas?

You may have fixed the issue since the last test but have since had low salt, or now have low salt, with the same end result.

Also, shut off the maintenance required light since you know that. One less distraction.
I presume the 1.10 is voltage while operating? Scroll down until you get the salt reading. Also, test your salt if you can or at least get your salt read at a (gulp) pool store. Be nice, but ignore everything they tell you!
Compare that to what your SWG says, but you must meet the SWG PPM for the low salt light to go out, but you don't want to over load on salt based on a faulty SWG reading.

Every pool owner with a SWCG system should own and use a Taylor K-1766 test kit to monitor their water at home for the reason Chuckiechan details above. Relying on a pool store test is a huge assumption and not wise or recommended.

I feel your pain. Sounds like you've replaced just about everything, so it must be either something that didn't get replaced or those that were aren't correct somehow. Could you post pictures of the whole installation? Random ideas...
  • Cell installed backward? (I say this because my AquaPure makes this easy to do.)
  • Sensors blocked from flow? (Did the sensors get replaced? Calcium coating on the salt sensor?)
  • Corroded or loose connector?
  • Damaged wiring?

I’ll do that tomorrow. 👍
Just for the heck of it with the SWG running take a water sample at the pool inlet and do a chlorine test. Also call the mfg and they can walk you through setting you cell. Its possible you have a mismatch between the wall unit electronics and the cell. That system probably runs different size cells, and if you are on the wrong one things won’t work right.
