Been a pool owner since 2019. The pool is fairly old, and I think the previous homeowners knew everything was about to die (not just the pool) and decided to sell.
At opening 2020, IC40 worked fine at first, but then died (no lights). After some research, I determined it was probably beyond it's lifespan (4 to 5 years). I found a great deal, so I bought a new one and installed. Back in business.
Summer 2021, rock-n-rolling, no problems!
Now, heading into summer 2022: IC40 has been giving me no problems. Flow is great, salt conversion to chlorine is great. Then this afternoon, I flipped on the power because some folks were coming over. No lights on the IC40. I jiggled it, lights flickered, went back out, and have remained out.
After some research, I see that if the green light is lit inside the power center, that means the fuse is good. The green light is lit. I could check the fuse, it's just really hard to get to, and since the light inside the PC is good, I'm assuming the fuse is good.
I also unscrewed the couplings and took a look inside, and there is no build up on the converter blades/fins.
Some folks online are saying the step-down regulator in the PC might be bad, but I don't have a voltage meter and have zero experience with anything electric.
I bought the replacement May 16, 2020. Two-year warranty. I'm now beyond the warranty. Yeah.
Thoughts? Is the IC40 dead? I bought for < $700 and now they're listing for $1400+, so I'm hoping it's not the IC40 itself. I'm going to call service on Monday (6/6), but just thought I would ask here first to see if there is anything else I could try.
