Hi there! Newbie here. Using an EasyTouch (pool only, no spa) and controls run manually from the ET are working.

I'm able to see settings update in the ScreenLogic app (and have configured in SLConfig app).

However, when I make changes in ScreenLogic, they do not "push" through to the actual ET panel.

I have an IntelliFlo VSF pump wired up with 3 circuits in SLConfig for low/normal/high speeds.

I have 3 AUX relays (wall lights, laminar lights, deck bubbler lights).

I have a MasterTemp 400 heater.

I have a PowerClean chlorine feeder (not using salt).

Screen shots of SLConfig attached as well as ScreenLogic.

I'm also struggling to create an account for remote login - I've tried to create a Pentair account but emails to confirm my address never make it in (have checked spam) Wondering if there's a better way?

Unable to load videos, so sharing words one more time to clarify the issue.

When I flip a toggle in ScreenLogic (ie, turn on or off a "Feature" assignment or select a "Pump" option), the change shows in the SL app for 10 seconds. After 10 seconds, the toggle switch in the app turns back off. The change never "makes it" to the ET control board and thus never applies.

Thanks!
Macs only here, I tried downloading last night but would not open. I suspect the app is out of date and might not work on a newer Mac running Monterey?

Try one of these methods to get the PC version of Screenlogic running on your Mac. It works better for configuring some stuff then the app.

Aug,

Let's try something simple first. Please turn on Aux 1 in your app and tell me if the actual light goes on. If it does not, then push Aux 1 on the panel and tell me if the actual light goes on.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks (PlayOnMac produced errors, downloading virtual box now as a plan B) so I appreciate this alternative test.

Pressing Aux 1 in the SL app behaves like the other toggles in the videos: the toggle "turns on" in the SL app for 10 seconds, and then turns itself back off. Aux 1 does not turn on "in real life" (this is a pool light, and the light does not turn on and the Aux 1 "button" does not turn on in the ET control panel).

One other bit of interesting info, I have confirmed that:
  1. Changing scheduled pump speeds in the ET control panel actually changes speeds on the pump
  2. Changing scheduled pump speeds in the ET control panel also syncs these new speeds to the SL app
  3. Changing scheduled pump speeds in the SL app does not actually change speeds on the pump
  4. Changing scheduled pump speeds in the SL app does not sync these new speeds to the ET control panel
  5. Changes to scheduled pump speeds in the SL app do "persist" in the app (ie, they "save" in the app when force closed and re-opened, even though they did not actually do anything at the ET controller or pump)

Aug,

If you go to the panel and push Aux 1, I assume the actual light comes on and stays on... What does the Aux 1 icon in ScreenLogic do?

Tell me how your Protocol adapter is connected to the EasyTouch. Are you using the wireless links, or is it hardwired?

Thanks,

Jim

If I push aux 1 on the panel, I hear an audible click and the aux 1 light turns on. It then stays on. This turns on a bay of 3 lights on the pool wall.

This also then updated the status of Aux 1 in the SL app to correctly show "on" rather than off.

When I toggle the state in the SL app, the app "updates" the status for 10 seconds and then the status toggles back (ie, my change does not succeed/save). The panel appears to never accept the command and the state at the panel does not update. The state of the actual accessory (pool lights in this case) is never impacted from the SL app.

Protocol adapter is hardwired into a router over Ethernet and then uses the wireless connector to establish the connection to the outside ET panel which has a wireless connector also wired into it and placed next to it.

I've checked wifi strength at the ET panel and it is acceptable (I can connect via the SL app when standing at the panel using either "local" or "remote" options).

From a functionality standpoint, it's as if I have permission to "read" all data from the ET via the SL app, but not access to "write" any data from the SL app to the ET panel.

ET panel is in "Auto" mode.

Aug,

The wireless links are not WiFi, more like old wireless phones.

The EasyTouch uses an RS-485 serial bus that has Tx and Rx components. Based on what you said, and our little test, it sounds like one of the RX or TX chips is not working. It could be the protocol adapter, but my guess is it is one of the wireless links, most likely the outside one.

As a test, you can run a 4-wire cable from the EasyTouch to the protocol adapter, this would by-pass the wireless links, and see if things work correctly. If they do, then you will know for sure one of the links is bad.

Not too easy to troubleshoot the wireless links and you can't just buy the bad half anyway as they are a set.

If this is all new, you should return it and get another ScreenLogic kit.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Bummer, thanks Jim. I'll ask the installer about this.

Any chance this error is helpful? I got a windows VM running and received an error when trying to connect.

Aug,

Notice that when I see that page it auto populates the IP address in the blank space under "local systems"

What happens when you turn on your phone's WiFi and try to connect? When I do that it gives me two options, local or remote access.

I really don't have much practical experience troubleshooting my ScreenLogic, as it fired right up, and I have had zero issues with it.

Seems to me I had to initially set it up as an "Administrator"..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Got through that, up and running now on the VM. Had to right click and run as admin - appreciate the tip!

Seeing the same behavior now in the desktop app as the iOS app. It's pulling in info just fine but not pushing updates out.

Not sure if this strengthens the hypothesis (hardware issue) or if there are other data points we can check from here. Hoping of course that it's SW and not HW since SW we might be able to fix whereas HW means I'm at the mercy of the supplier :) But, maybe this re-affirms the HW theory?

The RS485 chips in the Protocol Adapter can be replaced. If you know how to solder or have an electronics shop available, you can get the chips for really low price.

Pool installer is supposed to be out tomorrow, going to ask him to replace when he's here.

If there are any issues there, I may go the solder route. Fun fact, wife did her first solder project recently on the crock pot and had fun. Could be another good one to tackle together.
