The pool has this black stuff caked onto the bottom. I believe it is algae. We have been trying shock treatments. The pool company came out to look at it and they are puzzled. Any recommendations for a remedy? It is a pool with a liner in the NY. The pool was just opened after being closed all winter.

Get your feet wet and try to scrape some of that black stuff on to a piece of white paper. Or is is a stain?
What do you add to the pool? How so you chlorinate, and what other products have been added? Algaecide??
Can you supply us with these test values (not pool store or tech's)
