Above Ground Pool Deck Build - 16x18 Deck for 24 ft AGP

Magitek, consider Thompsons also. I played the 'which color game' and ended up grabbing a jug of original (clear) out of frustration with a certain spouse's indecision. I absolutely loved the timeless look.

I am partial to the darker ones (4&5) as the sun will fade them over time anyway so maybe that might a yield longer time before needing to reapply. I also think it will compliment your pool wall color! At our house the dark choice was easy since everything is brown like the furniture & patio poles ect.

I like 2! My logic is the lighter the better - keeping in mind that I live in FL and dark means HOT.

I like 3 the best. I do NOT like 1 as it is too red to me.

That's funny you say that because I particularly like 1 and 5 for their oak look. I think it would look real neat to be a bit different.

So that’s votes for:
3, but please not 1
1 or 5
4 or 5
2

I thought y’all (my non-existent inner Southern) were supposed to be making this easy for me, lol.

I think we’re leaning toward #4, which is Armstrong-Clark ‘Chestnut’, semi-transparent.

After @Mdragger88 mentioned the pool walls, I started looking at all the colors next to that, and I think I like the way 4 looks against the wall the best. I’m also down for anything that might let me stretch an extra year between applications, and if going a little darker can help with that count me in.

We’ll see if I regret that on the real hot days, but we have even more “not so hot” days so more heat might actually be a good thing? Who knows.

I appreciate everyone thinking aloud with me. :)

'member that it will lighten and fade starting day 1. If you absolutely hate it, well, I have great news for you. 😁

Fwiw- I saw it mentioned today that the darker shades provide more uv protection for the wood as i was watching people seal their decks with various products including ready seal. I just got some more to do a bench & another quick light coat for my deck. Research, research 🧐

We’ve finally got several dry days forecasted, so it’s go time!

Completed scrubbing/cleaning today:

(Still wet here)

As long as everything dries as expected Friday should be stain day.

This is what we went with, in Chestnut:

Ignore the mess, everything from the deck had to go somewhere …

But if you can make the leap from the roof of the playhouse on to the trampoline, you’ve got an Olympics in your future.

PS: No beer here. Rum, or tequila. In a red cup. Your choice.

Dry and sanded. Last look before color. The stain manufacturer said to clean with a bleach solution, so I did - and you can see it left some discoloration. Hoping the stain will cover all that.

Barring a cruel trick from Mother Nature, tomorrow it shall be.
