Disappearing chlorine

I guess adding multiple times a day did something before I knew what was actually going on.
Sounds like you took a few odd turns along the way. Hopefully you're on the right track. Some notes for you about this whole experience:
1. When a pool owner says they can't hold FC or CYA, we sometimes get concerned about ammonia. Ammonia consumes both, but has a way of feeding aggressively on CYA which is why earlier we had you conduct the 10-min FC routine before adding stabilizer. If you are holding FC past 10 - 15 minutes, then you are through that barrier. Now it's a matter of testing vigilantly in intervals that you can be sure the FC isn't falling too much. In times it should stabilize better. A consistent SLAM FC of 12 is your goal.

2. When you know your CYA is zero (like before), then there is no need to retest anytime soon because you added stabilizer for a CYA goal of 30. As long as you used the PoolMath APP you should be very close to that goal.

3. At this point, there is no need to test anything else for a while except FC. That is your only priority along with all the other SLAM tasks like brushing, vacuuming, etc.

The SLAM Process works, but it's duration and amount of chlorine vary from pool to pool based on owner vigilance, previous condition of water, previous chemicals used, etc. Review the SLAM Process page once a day and hang in there.

Thank you guys so much for the help. This was an odd situation for sure. Glad I am back on track. My hands are raw from collecting samples from my devil water.
Try finding a 18” length of PVC (3/4” diameter) and place it down in the water, then put your thumb over the top and pull the pipe back out. Place the open end over a big cup and let your thumb loose and the water will dump into the cup. Then head inside with the cup to do your testing. Way easier that way.

A larger PVC pipe also works, but I had to cap each end and drill a smaller ~1/4” hole in each end to let the water to stay in when I lifted the pipe out.

What a great idea! I have plenty lying around too. FC hasn’t fallen below 10 in almost 2 days now. I got my new chemicals for tf100 kit, pool is starting to clear up. I can see shallow end bottom, and see the vac in deep end.
