@Jimrahbe
I am going through something similar with my intellitouch i9+3 system, the outside unit is not talking to intellisense system or the pool pump. I tried changing out the main board with another that the homeowner had but still same issue. Any chance its the personality board? There really isnt much to that board but asking none the less. I have tried unplugging parts from the comms ports to see if something was bring it down but doesnt seem to change the outcome.

sbo,

Did you mean ScreenLogic? I have never heard of IntelliSense, but that does not mean it does not exist, I just know nothing about it.

I assume you have an IntelliFlo VS pump that is being controlled by the IntelliTouch. The pump is controlled by an RS-485 com port. The problem is that any device on the part can go bad and cause the communications to stop.

Step one is troubleshooting the problem is to determine if the main card's com port is good or not. To do that, you need to disconnect everything on the RS-485 bus, except a single IntelliFlo pump. With just the one pump connected to the main board, if the pump says "Display Not Active" and the pump runs, then the main board and the pump are most likely ok and something else is loading the RS-485 com port down.

I would assume that is the pool owner had an extra card, that it was previously bad and replaced.

I have an EasyTouch, so let's see what Tom has to say about the IntelliTouch's Personality card. Calling @ogdento

Thanks,

Jim R.

i'd bet the personality board is fine... the comm port signal lines are passed straight through from the personality board to the mainboard, so unless the connector or the board itself is corroded there's nothing else to go wrong (I've only seen two bad personality boards... one was dropped and had a broken relay, and the other had a giant puddle of solder somehow dripped on it by a plumber)

Sorry yes ScreenLogic. So i removed all lines but pump and now the pump shows display not active. Next I reconnected the ScreenLogic and still no comms to screenlogic. Possible issue with the little screenlogic box?

I should say i can connect to screen logic but it cant see the pool controller

Comms goes down when this white cable with the red yellow green black wires are connected. no label on it but its not the wireless, intellichlor or screenlogic. goes into a mystery grey tube below… possibly spa side control?

I have reconnected the wireless, screenlogic, intellichlor and pump and comms is still good with pump… showing display not active. Screenlogic still not talking to pool controller

did they mention any lightning storms recently?
Yes we recently had a storm front come through… didnt connect the dots… always trust your nose… burnty smells are a good give away.. should have sniffed around first. But then may not have identified the other issue. Thanks again.

Btw that chip is the rs485 interface IC. The board is seriously fried so not sure if changing that part would fix($5). Anyone know if the boards can be bought separately? A quick check on google is coming up blanks

i've never seen the top boards available separately, but sometimes you see a dead adapter for 50 bucks or so (most of the time the flash on the lower board gets corrupted)

is the board itself badly burned, or is that black stuff we can see in the photo actually plastic from the chip that melted and bubbled out?

that's excellent, I think you've got a great chance of fixing it!!

here's some shots of an older revision board, but it looks like yours might have all the traces still intact...

Got the new chip in and i have comms back. Everything seems to work with the new setup except the pool pump. When i turn pool on fromscreenlogic, the filter pump light comes on at pool controller but pump wont turn on… did i configure something incorrectly? With the board i popped in there needed to reconfigure everything
