Replacing outdated equipment at new to me pool. The pad plumbing is a maze and will be cleaned up, excessive 90's etc.
Also will be removing an incline chlorinator feed with a mineral feed and an unused motor for disconnected pool cleaner, as I have a robot and am moving it to this pool.
Pool is approx. 7000 gallons, looks bigger but almost half the pool is sun shelf.
The only piece of equipment that is newish is the sand filter, I just prefer cartridge.
Here is what I spec'd per the advice from TFP. I also used advice for equipment pads and plumbing.
Pentair Intellicenter Model # 521903
IntelliFlo VSF pump Model #011056
Pentair 160332 Clean & Clear Plus CCP520 Cartridge Filter
Heater 460736 MasterTemp 400 Btu.
Jandy NeverLube
Jandy Valves
Intellivalves Actuators
I understand there is the cost of the item, install, misc, overhead. If the price is fair, it is what it is.
Am I allowed to put total prices here? I researched equipment cost of X and for everything else is 78% of X.
I called the owner and he refused to put in the quote the make and model numbers that I had given him. He lumped the cost of the equipment and the install of each piece into one figure. I am not trying to internet shop and then DIY but this just seems high. I told him that his quote if I accept and sign without the make and model means he could put in anything and it would be considered a contract. He said he has to have leeway as equipment sometimes has several different models and depending on supply he would substitute. I asked if he could put in what I specified and then if he needs me to sign off on a substitute I would do that. He said he never puts the make and model on any of his quotes.
Currently all equipment is working. I can use pool chlorine for now and just leave the tab feeder empty, same with the mineral thing. I told him I would be willing to wait while the equipment all comes in as I am in no hurry. Heck I am waiting 12 months for a kitchen remodel to start as the lead time for the fridge is that long. He just said let's get it done.
Owner also stated I had a lot of extra details in my requests. Things like the specific valves, actuators, check valves, heater bypass. I figured since they would be taking all the old off the pad and had a clean slate why not situate the pieces so it would be easy for them to work on in the future it was needed. The pad is a poured fairly large for the number of pieces. He did price out the automation and salt cell generator each as a separate item so not 521903 . I did ask and he said it was the same thing. I want the all in one, as the current wall of boxes was a maze and as long as we were cleaning up the install lets put in the one I requested.
I believe I need a good install with the equipment I requested and the business needs to make money, fair is fair. Let me know if I can post prices or ranges, and if I am way off base let me know.
Thanks in advance.
