Can’t get any free chlorine reading

I dumped mine right in the grass for 8 years without issue. It was a 60 gallon landscaper tub with bigger filters and I wasn't moving it anywhere. I guess spraying the filters after in the same spot helped dillute the bath water a little more, but not by much,

So I cleaned my cartridge filter with the MA rinsed it off, put it back in today and it only went down from 18 to 17 on the PSI.
I’m not sure we really know what the baseline was it was anywhere from 11 to 18 ( my husband is guessing 14?)since the beginning of the year but we are brand new so we weren’t really paying attention.
The numbers go up to 60, but I’m just wondering what to do? It seems very clean and it’s working great so now what?

I would leave it be. Use 17 as your clean pressure. When it rises 25%, clean it. Monitor water flow and see how it goes.

Might consider a new cartridge next year. But they should last several years.

Thanks for the fun read!!

I do suggest you order some hair nets like seen here:

These will catch doggy hair as well other stuff. Much easier to grab and toss the hair net than cleaning the filter!

 to everyone on this thread!

What a great idea! Thanks so much! I’ve had just a thin nylon sock kind of thing in the filter basket but I wash it out every morning so this is a great idea! 🎉💜

So I couldn’t figure out after cleaning my filter so well that my psi now is up to 18, but when I turned off the filter last night it didn’t go down to zero, it went down to four. So I’m assuming the real psi is 14 but what do I do about the PSI not going back down to zero when the filters off? Is that something I should be concerned about?

but when I turned off the filter last night it didn’t go down to zero,
The pressure gauge needs to be replaced. You have no idea what the pressures are.

That is a new one. Let's hope it is removable. Do you have any paper work on the equipment? Or Brand/Model name?

This may help, they describe the process.

Thank you!
Here is the manual. Apparently there is a gauge adapter that the gauge screw into and it fits into the lid. I would take the top off as described in the thread above. It will likely give you a clue when you look from bottom side.

Thank you soooooo much! Super helpful! 🎉🎉
