Hot tub moving - is this idea good bad or ugly?

Ok I believe idiot newbie hot tub owner mode was on earlier. Let me explain

So for clean purge you run pumps jets fill out for 30 mins. Well we found in the Nordic manual (handy thing ya know) that high speed mode only goes 15 mins. Also found in the settings menu of the cp that the screen goes off after 14 mins. I believe what happened was these things acted normally and turned off at their proper times and I panicked and thought something was wrong.

I am fairly certain this is normal operating mode. I will say that the pumps on this tub do seem to run warmer to the touch than I would think but in truth I have nothing to base that opinion on and I could be completely wrong. I find it odd that you can only run on high for 15 mins but again I have no experience to know if this is the norm or not.

Anyway I am not sure if there is anything to worry about or not at this point. I have the heater on and the temp turned up to the high 90s at the moment so it’s already at about 83 right now. Will put the front panel back on shortly and see how things go for now. I should probably start testing water and get a baseline going so I can make necessary adjustments.

Anyway here she is set up and running on normal mode since the heater is on.

Normal, my high speed pumps go off after 15 minutes as well, My pumps might be hot also I've never taken the front off to check.. But as soon as they go off, I can restart them.

Roger that former owner basically just told me the exact same thing. Had no idea. Lots more to learn for sure.

Thanks for this thread, it's been fun following your hot tub journey. So excited for you and you guys got an awesome tub!!
Thanks man been some ups and downs and yeah its been an adventure for sure. Kinda glad the thread is here and out in the wild as perhaps someone in the future can relate and help them out. While I definitely didn't run into major issues as I have read in other posts (very thankful for that) we have had our hiccups and decisions and doubts of course but so far after 1 day (technically 2) of ownership we are very happy.

I am learning more each day and most importantly things are making sense as I DO them (i.e. testing, shocking, adding chems, retesting etc). As I mentioned in another post it seemed very daunting reading the process. Doing the process really made things click.

+1. This thread and all its advice and dissecting EVERY last angle that could go wrong will be awesomely beneficial to anyone considering the same in the future.

At times it added even tougher decisions to pull your hair out, but we plan for the worst and dance when it goes better than that.

So glad it went better than that. :)

I agree, this (and other) forums are a great resource. I wish I had discovered them earlier in my career. Even I have learned alot here, and I've been at this a loooooooong time (and thought I knew it all ;) ). Lots of knowledgeable and helpful folks here. It's awesome.

No worries and yeah all is well. It probably would have helped if I had read the manual first 😒

SO... Have you been in yet??? Come on dont leave us hanging!!

LOL you guys are crazy. Of course we have. We got in Sunday (day 1) for about 20-30 just to try it out as it was pretty late after working on setting everything all day.

Last night we got in after we got home from dinner and I checked levels (needed a pH adjustment and some bromine to get it to stable). We were in for at least an hour or more - kinda lost track of time (no clock on the porch (y)). We are still learning what settings/jets etc we like best. My wife loves the lounger can't get her out of it tbh. Me I am more of a captain's chair kind of guy. My son loves to turn the jets on high and flip it to the big whirlpool jet and then try to withstand the pounding (19 year olds whatcha gonna do).

So far we have found we like the jets on both sides going with full air for about 20 mins or so and then jets with no air for a while then back to air. Couple of things we have noticed with our tub vs using other tubs (whether it is rentals, public, friends etc)

1 - We feel A LOT less itchiness from the jets than we used to. This was a big concern of ours and why we almost went softub. We had commented that whenever we used other tubs we could only stand jets for like 5 mins or less due to itchiness. We we can run jets a lot more and barely even notice it now. I am betting it has a lot to do with water chemistry and not just the action of the jets. With respect to the itchies I have also noticed just shutting off the air to jets keeps us from noticing even the slightest itch too.

2 - We love the foot jets - wish there were more!! Wife also goes bananas over the leg jets in the lounger and its why she won't get out.

3 - Tubs aren't meant for smaller people. Daughter is 5' 2" and she has to sit forward a little in each seat to use it. If she uses the lounger she basically has to hold herself in place. She is fine with it but just something of note.

4 - Bro vs Chlo - I certainly wasn't sure what I would be facing in this as I have never been anything that didn't use chlorine. I have to admit so far we like it. I have asked everyone to monitor skin etc to make sure no one has a reaction to it and so far after 2 nights its been fine. Bro has a different smell for sure which is taking some getting used to but so far we are very happy about not dealing with the obnoxious chlorine smell we normally see on other tubs. So far the chemistry has been going fine and the doing of the adjustment process is making a lot more sense now. I don't have things balanced just yet as we had basically no bromine in there after using it last night so I still need to get the balance straight for the floaters and the after use shock. No issue getting it back to the right level via shock of course but will need to see how much it has dropped when I get home this evening. Especially since my son has his friends coming over tonight and I need to make sure all is well.

In general things are great. We like the tub we got (am I pining for the nicer Hot Springs Envoy I almost got .. just a tiny bit only because I would have liked those moto massage jets but that's about it). This Nordic is well built , it works well, we like the color of it and I think it would was a good choice for us based on size, features, and that it was by far the nicest tub I could get for about 5k. The seller has been mega helpful with tips and advice before and after I got it set up so that has been a major plus. Are we still concerned about the no warranty, sure but as @RDspaguy explained to me we would have most likely been on our own with repairs anyway since spa companies like to blame any issue you have on poor water chem.

Happy we got the tub and have it in place. I hope we become tub lifers and get lots of regular use and we don't fall into the trap of this was great at first and then it sits. I don't see that happening anytime soon but I guess its possible. For now we will sit back and relax and enjoy.

Oh btw the wife already wants to the know about maybe setting up a TV out there to watch some things while in tub, lol.

Whoa there horsey. I did not say that. I said many warranty claims will be denied as being chemistry related. That is because most issues under warranty ARE chemistry related. Heater failures, leak issues (seals, gaskets, o-rings) and pump issues that result from leaking seals are fairly common. There are some manufacturers known for denying every claim, but most are very fair about their warranty and do not hesitate to cover legitimate warranty claims.
Since everyone thinks they have good water chemistry but very few actually do, there are alot of comlaints out there on the subject, but a corroded element or gooey gasket doesn't lie. The results of poor chemistry or neglect are obvious to someone who sees them regularly.
