Decision made - finally - Nordic Encore LS (2020 model) - electrical question please

very pro on the bro and was encouraging me to stick with it.
Well we know how the average person does chlorine so maybe he was better off. Lol. I had no clue about chlorine at the time because my pool was SWG. Speaking of...... they make SWGs for hot tubs. Player 3 has entered the game !!! If SWG is a choice that is my choice. I don't care what we are talking about. If they decide to make one for my shower, I want a SWG shower. Zero questions. I feel *that* strongly about them.

Had swg for the pool and liked it once balanced but not doing it for the tub at this time.

Frustrating thing about the bro vs chlo debate is I can find as many people for each side as I can against. So like I said lots more reading to do

Here are some more thoughts:

Poolmath and your test kit are on team chlorine.
So is your skill set.

The MPS shocks/oxidizers and whatnot were expensive. They lasted some time but those tall skinny bottles were $48 at the time. Then again you can Amazon everything now with free shipping.

There are plenty of bromine users here to teach you.

Well I dont know about the SWG in my shower, but the doctor said I was getting older and would be good to put a bar in my shower so I did!

Where can I find the best article etc on why to go with bromine over chlorine for my new tub or vice versa?

I have been reading all night and I am baffled at which way to go tbh

I want to make my decision in time to get all my test kits and chemicals here before next weekend.

Also is there a good how to guide on using the ozone system in my nordic encore or is it just an automatic thing i.e. its on and does its thing?

If I am understanding things so far I believe my steps should be the following

1 - Tub in place and wired (not powered)
2 - Fill up tub
3 - then power on tub running jets etc but not heat
4 - add Gentle Spa
5 - adjust TA to 50 by adding baking soda or aeration/muriatic acid accordingly
6 - adjust pH using aeration and muriatic acid accordingly

At this point you veer off for Chlorine or Bromine I think but are these first 6 steps correct?

The way I do it...
Set the tub in place, final destination...
Start filling
As it is filling get it wired up
When its full turn on including heater
Add a couple 1" chlorine tabs... gives me some chlorine and CYA..
Once its up to temp , then I check TA, PH etc and adjust accordingly

I dont use Gentle Spa, that's Borates correct? Never had a need for them
Never tried Bromine so I cant comment there, chlorine has always worked well for me

Ok just read in the chlorine thread that adding gentle spa at each change/start was good.

And you use tabs not bleach? (always used bleach with pool)

Congrats on finding your tub. Looks like a great deal and I hope you will be happy with it for years to come.

As far as Bromine vs Chlorine. I had a Bromine tub years ago. It was fine, not all that hard to maintain. However, it turned out my wife was allergic to Bromine. That caused issues as one would expect. My new tub runs chlorine and so far, all is well. My tub does have the Frog@EASE system, which is easy but not cheap. I will probably switch to the TFP bleach/dichlor method once my free chemicals are used up.

The current owner is encouraging me to do bromine (no clue if either of us are allergic to it but I doubt we are). Still torn.

She gave me a very nice procedure to follow that she says has worked perfectly for her so I may try it, I just don't know definitely torn and what to do.

Pool was easy - chlorine for sure until I got tired of it and went SWG. Wish SWG was better for tubs as I would go that route as well. Just seem to read about too many issues with it

My only thought there is then you are running two types of system/chemicals. If you pool is chlorine I'm thinking stick with that, less chance of putting the wrong thing in the wrong place, and limit yourself to one set of chemicals. But to each his own..

Sadly the pool is gone (rusted out) so we just have a hole in the yard now where it used to be.
