Can Rain Effect My OCLT Results?

Keep the pumps running to circulate the water and use a draw stick to obtain water samples from 2-3 ft below the surface. Light rain should have minimal impact.

I use a 1” pvc pipe with a cap on it and a hole drilled just below the cap. Thumb goes over the hole as I put it in the water, thumb moves away to let air out and water in, thumb over hole to keep water in, pull out the tube and over my plastic container to collect water, move thumb and let water into cup. :)

I capped mine and drilled a whole in the side so that my son's little hands could manage to grab a sample. I also installed an upgrade that allows me to measure the correct testing depth, even under low light conditions.

What do you consider to be the correct testing depth? And does it depend on the depth of the pool? Mine is only 5’ in the deep end.

Anything deeper than 18” is fine. You just want to avoid testing water near the surface as it can have slightly different chemical levels that the bulk of the pool water.

I used a piece of 2-foot-long 1/2" PVC with drilled caps on both ends. I sample from ~15" below surface. That's elbow depth for me. With an AGP, there's no benefit to using the draw stick except when the water is frigid, and usually I grab samples by hand at elbow depth.
