Chemicals ok, pool milky

I approve of the wine, but the thick bleach contains a gelling agent, which means that all that gel is going to end up in your water. Maybe it will gum up your filter, who knows? I would return that stuff and get something more like this:

Something like this would be "Jolly Good old boy!" :)

If I could get next-day free delivery with a bulk discount for 15% Sodium Hypochlorite here in the States, I would be happier than a Scotsman with a haggis
Ok I also was trying to avoid big jugs of strong bleach at head height (where pool is on me)

Ok the backwashing isn’t an issue for me.

the issue is I’ve slammed 20 litres of toilet bleach-gel in my pool today and it’s cloudier than ever.
What do I do now? 😢😂

empty 1/2 out?. We have a big family event, based around this pool, on sat. Kids are on school holiday this week. Oh my days.......

I think we need a TFP expert here:
Nothing is faster or a more sure thing than draining a large portion and refilling. Can't say what all is in that stuff but if it is designed to be part of the bleach solution then it's not going to be easily broken down by chlorine.

IMO the method with least questions is to vacuum to waste to make sure there's nothing sitting on the bottom, drain half the water and refill. If things are still especially cloudy I'd do another drain and refill. It's going to guarantee the pool is cold this weekend but I can't think of a better solution to the water clarity now that we know what is likely causing it. I wish there was an easier answer, but any other ideas are just guesses and would need more than a few days to try (to say nothing of whether they actually work or not).

You are going to have a long row to hoe to get that pool clear by Saturday, but you can do it if you start now... if you wait, you'll be buggered. I'd def go ahead and sort that chlorine delivery. Some sort of microfilter "slime bag" attached to your return could help. Here in the states, we buy them from Duda Diesel...I don't know if they are available in the UK on short notice.

I find absinthe and home brewed Hefeweizen works best for me... YMMV

I did order the bleach, ty for the link. 1/3 of water gone by releasing the pipes last night. I’ll see if milky stuff has sediment/is settling, then get the rest out today.

Above ground pool; I figure if I disconnect the (long) return hose from the side & trap it on the pool floor I can pump most of it out.

thank you so much everyone, really appreciate your help.

I’ve got the skimmer syphoning it out. Temoved the foamy topping. The water is clear with small lumps of white sediment. I’ll prob got 2/3 empty & refil

I lost 1/3, refilled. Basically looks the same as b4 I started, a bit milky. I’ll get a skimmer sock in the basket & if you have any others I’m really open to them.

Maybe add some DE to your sand filter and see if it can help remove some of that stuff. You will probably have to backwash and re-add DE several times whenever your filter pressure rises by 25% over clean baseline pressure. You can just put it into the skimmer and let it get sucked up. I would start with a small amount, maybe 1 or 2 DE scoops worth. I think it's going to be a waiting game for you. We have our own acronym here for that, POP (Pool Owner Patience). If you really want your pool as clear as it can be by Saturday, I would run your filter 24/7. I would keep your chlorine at SLAM level ( 12ppm) for your CYA ( treat your CYA as 30, we round up ) until your pool clears and you pass an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test. After that, you can let it drop down to 4-6 ppm and keep it in that range. Your TA seems a bit high, but using the liquid chlorinator will cause your pH to rise over time, so as you occasionally add Muriatic Acid to knock it back down it will also reduce your TA by the bye.

Thank you for all this.
Just checking, before I dump a load of DE in da pool. Can I use “food grade” DE? I’m only getting that, or garden grade come up atm

Would you pls send a link to the slime bag? No doubt I’ll be working on this beyond Sat.

Thank you again BassPD
