New Fiberglass install in Clarksville TN (Dig started Nov 16, 2020)

I added the 10 bags of salt left by my PB. I added 2 bags at a time in the shallow end, brushed it all around, and then tested with the salt strips each time. It still shows low on the strips but I’m not going to add anymore yet. I brushed the entire pool and then started running my Warrior SE robot to keep the water circulating throughout the day.

I believe salt takes about 24 hours to fully dissolve. Check tomorrow.

Concrete looks good. I was with Kim and thought there was no way it would clear up.

They just got my pool pump up and running and finished setting everything up. Water is 43 degrees. Pump is nice and super quiet. Any advice on how much to run the pump and at what speed? I really haven’t researched it much yet.
The salt water generator says cold and the generating light is blinking. (Edit: it now shows 2900 & generating)
I went around the waterline with a cloth and magic eraser. The pool and water is sparkling! It is supposed to be near 70 degrees here all week and I’m home on spring break ☀️

You will have to play with run time to see what your pool wants and needs. Right now it will not need as much as the water temp is so low. As it warms up you will need more run time. Keeping a good log of your test results will help you learn your pool's needs for each season.

Go by your FC to see if you are running the pump/SWG enough. Use liquid chlorine UP to the correct level then let the SWG keep it there.

I added liquid chlorine to get FC to 5 yesterday. The swg was at 30% and FC was up to 6 this morning so I turned the swg way down. The PH jumped up today so I will get some muriatic acid to lower it down. I have dry stabilizer to put in a sock and get CYA up to 70. My big question is about calcium hardness, I can’t find any recommendations on my pool shell packet. The pool math app says 250-650 but it seems the forum says around 200 for a fiberglass pool. Any help appreciated.
Also, there was a slight amount of what appears to be sand in the pool this morning. Is this normal after initial startup and install? My robot cleaned it right up but just curious. I’ve been mostly running my VS pump on Speed 1 and my valves on the sand filter and vari-flow valve don’t hardly show any psi. When on speed 4 they read about 10 psi. This normal?

I added some muriatic acid and cya yesterday. I’ve had some sand or dirt particles in the bottom of the pool the last two mornings. I hope it’s not the sand filter or laterals, I put a sock over a return and will check it in the morning. It has been very windy, so I hope it’s just dirt. I guess I will add some calcium tomorrow to get it up to 200.

All very normal. Wind will blow stuff into the pool. If your pump is off then that stuff will find it's way to the bottom of the pool to be vacuumed up. Now if you are worried about it being something in the water you can do an OCLT as seen here: Overnight Chlorine Loss Test

For the CH see what your CSI is on Pool Math and what the CH being up or down does to it. Remember the water temp is VERY important for this part of pool measurement.

The sock was clear of any sand this morning and the pool water is sparkling so that’s a relief. The high wind was just blowing debris in the pool. I messed around with the pool math app with CH and CSI, I think I’ll just get the CH up to around 200. We had a little rain today, but the water is clearer than I’ve ever seen it 🤩

I mowed the lawn this afternoon for the first time this year. The new grass is filling in nicely. I aerated and put down more fescue seed to try to fill in the bare spots. I’ve got some straw left over that I will put down this week and add some fertilizer and lime. I had to bring in some top soil for a few low spots and areas that had erosion during the winter.

How much concrete is along the length of the pool?
There is 9 ft of concrete in the back and 5 ft of concrete in the front and the sides. I added an extra 5 x 20 ft section of concrete for the lounge chair area which makes that section 10 x 20 ft. Only cost me $700.

I ordered a 20x40 8-mil solar cover from amazon and just trimmed and installed it today. It was pretty easy to trim and I’m hoping it gets the water a little warmer until summer arrives. I didn’t get a roller yet, I’m just going to fold it up and put it under my equipment shed when we swim for now.

I just finished the volleyball court this evening. Got the net and posts perfectly level and to regulation. I also stained the posts to match my fence and it really blends in nicely. My teenage daughters and their friends will spend lots of time out there this summer. They took my dirt from my dig and leveled out a nice court up there. 😀
