Another O/B in Arizona

Good luck with getting dug on Monday. My weather app says 90% chance of rain. But it does keep getting pushed back. Seems like every day it was supposed to rain it didn't, and the days it didn't call for rain, it rained. We are hoping it doesn't rain Tues so we can get our deck poured. 🤞
Indeed, mine says 100% on Monday, sounds like building pools in Gilbert is a sure way to bring rain somehow :) Well, worst case it will push dates back a little, better than rain messing up the dug hole. Hope all goes well with your deck pouring!!

Shelf-run out there with the plans and a tape measure. Also take some kind of chair that is close to the size you might use on it. make sure they measured right AND if a chair will fit IF you want to use chairs on it. Sit on it on your fanny to see if it is big enough for that.

looks good...and familiar.
so what dimensions did you end up going with? remember the sides are about 10-12" thick so might want to think about adding 1ft all the way around and have him dig inside the line or let him know to dig outside the current lines for the finished planned dimensions. just dont want him coming back out because its too small.

Should be familiar indeed :) I got the plans redone and added a bit more depth too. I asked about the actual size and he confirmed the layout on the ground is the finished size interior size, they will set the forming boards a feet back. I also confirmed the depth on the drawing is water depth.

You can already do your next "job" on the build. Run out there with the plans and a tape measure. Is it wide, long, deep, etc enough? Add about 8" for the steel, shell, and plaster (16" total for wall to wall sizing). NOW is the time to fix or tweak as needed or wanted.

Well, color me impressed! I got one company to do plumbing, rebar and electrical. The plumbing crew came Tuesday, steel came in Wednesday morning, rough electrical in the afternoon. Ready for first inspection and then shotcrete.

Sorry to point out an issue, but you should not install an Intellichlor in the downward water flow side. The flow switch can fail closed. Not as critical as you have an Intellicenter, but still not correct. Read the installation manual.

Thanks for the heads up. I did see that and read the manual, it said vertically is preferred but nothing on the side. I called Pentair yesterday, they said it isn’t a problem but I’m curious on why it would fail. I can ask the plumber to change the cell to the exit of the filter instead of downwards the return line.

The flow switch is a very thin piece of spring metal. If it breaks or bends, it can fail closed. The Pentair manuals show all the vertical installs on the upward water flow side.

Like I said, as you have an Intellicenter and the SWCG will be wired through the main relay, and thus it should never have power unless the pump is running, your risk is low.

And yesterday was shotcrete time! Pretty happy with the result, but I noticed some cracks today. Hope they are just normal ones. @bdavis466 Any chance you can weigh in? :)

Run out there and start watering the shell. It needs to be done to help slow the curing of the shell. What you are seeing is normal. Just don't want the to get much bigger. You can use a sprinkler to help you water the shell.
