I’d like to move my pump back about 12” but there’s only fittings and no pipe to cut. Does anyone have any advice for me on how to get this done? I have attached pictures of my setup. Thanks!
Welcome to TFP.
Why do you want to move your pump back 12"?
See PVC_Repair - Uncoupling Existing PVC Components and if you can get the coupler off of the outside of the valve without damaging the valve.
If not then you may need to rebuild from the three suction pipes coming out of the ground and replace the two diverter valves..
That's correct. I've seen a lot of videos on youtube about people removing pipe from fittings but I worry about the seal on the old fitting.Looking again, it does look like a coupling coming off the valve. So I guess the threaded adapter is connected to the the coupling with a short section of 2" pipe?
Looks like plenty of room to me to cut that threaded fitting going to your pump off, add a coupler, and extend it as needed.
I thought about that. I think it would be possible if I removed the motor from the pump. That would lower the diameter of the pipe going into the pump to 1.5" from 2". That's probably not a big deal right? Can you unscrew the pump somehow? Then get another threaded fitting to extend it.
If there is 2" pipe inside the coupler, this is where you could use the inside slip coupler. That's a coupler butted up against the threaded fitting. If I cut the threaded fitting off I'll have to remove the pipe inside the coupler to keep going.
Thanks! I wasn't aware there was such a thing. I'll look into it.If there is 2" pipe inside the coupler, this is where you could use the inside slip coupler.
