Plumbing leak help

There are any number of ways to get from your point A (the female thread in the pump) to point B (the female thread in the filter). If both are 1.5", one was is to go all 1.5" between the two points, eliminating the need to convert to 2" at either end.

You can find a union with a 1.5" thread on one side, and 1.5" slip on the other side, and run 1.5" pipe to the same sized union on the filter end.

Or glue a 1.5" slip-slip union onto the existing grey pipe coming out of the pump, and run 1.5" pipe from there to the filter.

Or convert the 1.5" slip of the union to 2" and then run that to the filter, covering back to 1.5" if need be on that end.

Etc. Lots of other possibilities as well.

In the pic you provided it looks to be all 1.5" originally, so you wouldn't lose anything by leaving it all 1.5".

Pardon if I'm not understanding the dilemma exactly, but it seems simple enough...

If you're determined to screw a 1.5"-thread-to-2"-slip union into the pump, that's fine, too. As I mentioned, call inyo and see if they have the part you want.
