Spa vs pool and ph numbers/scaling

Please forgive my ignorance. Our pool will be 3 months old Nov 1. I was pool stored for awhile and just switched over to bbb about a month ago.

My question is this. We have been using the attached spa and it has developed some scaling on the side where it spills over. I finally figured out it was due to high ph from the water temp in the spa. I’ve been playing around with various numbers on the csi app. From what I understand the ph needs to be a little higher in the colder water and lower in hotter water... according to my numbers. If we use the spa I need lower ph but the main pool needs higher. Can I add ma directly to the spa prior to use? Then after it will drain into the main pool. Or do I lower my full pools ph before we use the spa?

Here are my numbers
FC 10
CC 0
Ph 7.7
Ch 250
TA 120 (just reduced from 150 after I found scale.)
CYA 90 (down from 110 a month ago once I dumped pucks. Pool gets tons of use from little ones)

So when the water temp gets low the csi is happy with ph around 7.8 but the spa wants 7.4. Opinions please.

Thank you for your time.

You are asking about scale on the outside of the spa under where the water spillover?

That is a different type of scale then the scale that the CSI addresses. 90+% of the time the temperature of your pool and spa are pretty much the same. The hour or two a day you heat up your spa does not require you to adjust the CSI for the hotter temperature. Any effects of CSI happen over months, not hours or days, or weeks.

The scale on your spa outside wall is from evaporation depositing calcium on the tile. Or it may be efflorescence.

You can try cleaning the scale on tile using a diluted mixture of muriatic acid. But be careful on the acid dilution and neutralizing the acid solution as it can attack your grout.

Tougher scale may require the process described in Waterline Scale Removal - Further Reading

Post pics showing the problem areas.

Thank you for your reply. That makes sense. It also makes me feel a lot better. I would rather clean a little off the tiles then worry constantly about the ph. Here is a pic. It’s not terrible but I’m super ocd and like things to always look new.

That is calcium and salt deposited from water evaporation.
