First test results. Help with raising CYA

I hope it's ok I'm kinda using this thread as a log, if not, just lemme know.

Test at 130pm showed a FC of 12.5
Started another thread in regards to my pool volume (accuracy is key, right?) and again, y'all had my back. I was overestimating it and adjusted down to 25,000 gal.

Tested again at 430pm. FC is 12. For funsies I retested my CYA and CC (48 hours after adding stabilizer) and it def raised it it's in-between the 20 and 30. Considering I'm not having too much for a FC loss I'm happy with that. CC is 1 so that lines up pretty well.

Lemme know if any of these seem off to you guys! Happy Independence Day (if you're from the States)!

Perfectly fine to keep this as your running log. Many do just that. I'm shocked by the *schmutz* in that shop-vac canister! Blech! :puker:

You're doing great- I can see improvement in Poolio easily from pics. ✅

Your filter is working like a demon....that was smart to switch out the filters quickly to move on fast. :goodjob:

So tested at 930 and was down to 7.5 FC.
Poured in my LC and am gonna leave it for the night.

Does anyone else imagine the chlorine as little pacmans eating up all the crud? Lol!

I gotta say Im Going thru less chlorine than I thought I would. Maybe three gallons in total since starting my slam.

Going into SLAM day three. Lost 1 FC this am and added the LC as recommended. Can't see any big progress today, but I'm out here earlier than usual so the sun isn't hitting the water the same. Happy that there is no worsening so I'll take it!

NGL, kinda proud I'm keeping up with all of this. It's like having a newborn baby, but instead of formula I'm feeding it LC Evey 4 hours, lol

don’t have wait for the 25% pressure increase.
Allowing the psi to increase to 25% is the most efficient way to operate your filter.

Backwashing too often wastes water and waiting for psi to go much above 25% decreases efficiency. 25% is sort of a nice compromise to get good water flow and good filtration both.

Gonna try to vac out the bottom a bit today. I really need to get the water down a bit. My skimmer isn't doing its job because it's just above the top of it.

Side bar: I really hate bugs, they're gross and their waterlogged bodies floating in my pool makes me gag

It hear you on the bugs. After a good rain storm here, the fire-ants release royalty to found new colonies. If you get enough, they "ball" where they link together in a living writhing ball of ants. I also deal with "june-bugs", but they just float on top and "swim". Cicada don't drop in too often, but the suckers are around this year and they are nearly 3 inches long.

You're doing great and I'll let the masters coach you on the SLAM.

Another check done. No chlorine loss, FC is 13. Is it alright if it's a little higher than the goal sometimes? It's never more than a 13, but I know thru the PoolAid that high FC levels can damage things. CC is 1. My measuring cup might be slightly off I guess, I put in 3cups 2 Oz's at the last check but if it was a little more than that I'm guessing that would account for the slight elevation

I've been checking them daily just as practice. My CYA this morning was between. 30 and 20, but closer to the 20 side of things. Ill take a pic the next time I do it and maybe y'all can let me know if you're seeing the same as I am. (Idk if it'll work, but hey, can't hurt to try! Lol)

Even if its closer to 20 than 30, round up to 30.

Sweet! That's what I figured too. I just did a other check. FC was 10.5. and I think I figured out why my last test was high. I had that I was using 10% LC not the 12.5%, lol! it's really coming along it's a much brighter bluea than it was this morning!

TFP FTW!

Even if you get your FC up to 13, 14, 15, I dont think thats anywhere near so high as to start damaging things. Ive read some slams here that had to keep levels as high as 24, so I wouldnt be worried about getting too high at this point.
