SWCG Test Results - Any Tweaks?

Attached my latest pool math. After converting to SWCG and doing a SLAM, I seem to be pretty stable. I’m an over analyzed by nature, so always looking to improve. Seems like PH is a little high, TA a little low, etc. Any thoughts on my results? Or if it ain’t broke don’t fix it?

Being that I’m a first year pool owner, I’ve been trying to follow TFP religiously. Feel free to tell me to stop messing with it and enjoy. :)

Your numbers are fine.

Just manage number to be within the ranges not to specific values. pH in the 7's is fine. Any TA above 50 is fine as long as your pH is table.

Patrick,

Most SWCG pools like their pH to be 7.8 or so... I would leave it alone until it reads 8.0 and then only knock it back to 7.7 or 7.8 and let it drift up to 8.0 again.....

That said, I agree with Allen.. Quit messing with it and enjoy the few days of summer we have left..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Patrick, my pH rises Naturally Frequently
So I follow pH/Alkalinity posts.
I’m sure you have dosing charts, and don’t need to be told your target pH for your pool.
That being said, I’ve found this helpful and will share (for what it’s worth) After balancing my pH/TA the last 3 months, in
determining “how much” acid needed to reach my desired pH.

The tale of 2 pools
Pool X
Pool Z
Pool X = 15,000 gallons
Pool Z = 15,000 gallons
Pool X = pH of 7.9
Pool Z = pH of 7.9
Pool X desires pH of 7.7
Pool Z desires pH of 7.7
Pool X = TA of 110
Pool Z= TA of 80

would the acid needed be identical in both pools since they have
a) same water volume
b) desire the same decrease?

I used to think yes
I now realize No!
the lower the Alkalinity reading, the less acid required to hit the same pH target.
What say you?
Ps I noticed your saturation # was slightly less than -0.30.
As temp’s drop, everything else being equal, falling temperatures alone can drop equilibrium score.

I think I’m done messing with it. ?

Seriously though, I love this forum. Everyone is so helpful. As a first time pool owner with a black / green / 4 year closed up pool, you guys have been there helping all along. I think after the first year, I can say it’s been a success. We cleaned up the gunk. Got the water sparkling. Installed an SWCG. Made a mistake or two. SLAMmed. Now we are running the SWCG like a champ. Couldn’t be happier with how clean and troublefree our pool is! Everyone remarks with how crystal clear things look.
